Dragon
Concept »
Dragons were originally messengers from heaven, according to early Buddhist texts. In games, they can be among the most fearsome of adversaries, but there are some exceptions.
Are "Dragons" in games becoming the new "Zombies".
The Witcher 2 uses a dragon because its more or less like the ultimate beast to slay. Thats more or less been true in all stories...Also Skyrim..do your research about Elder Scrolls lore. Thats the only two games I can think of.
They should make that damn Hobbit game I've wanted since I was a kid.The is a "The Hobbit" game
In all honesty though it would probably be terrible.
I know, I remember playing that a long time ago.@Underachiever007 said:

Awww. Even though I expected it to be terrible it's still kind of a bummer.@Underachiever007: No really, there was one. Here's a hint, it was pretty lame.
As far as I'm concerned all dragons can go to hell.
Unless you're adapting Tolkien you have no business using them these days.
You know what they are? They're the new vampires. At one point they were cool and menacing, but then the fucking DeviantArtists got a hold of them. Only in this case it was the people who made fantasy art in the 70s.
With zombies, they are always everywhere and saturate the whole game. And there are alot of games that have them. There is usually only a few or one dragon in games that contain them, so the novelty is still there. I think that is the main argument that "No" they are not the new zombies. Now if they started to make a Dynasty Warriors game with all of the minor enemies and generals being dragons, then yes, the appeal would be lost quickly. Zombies are almost like DW with guns and no over the top attacks.
Totally not. It's possible they could, I suppose. The last time I saw a dragon in a game was one of the bosses in Twilight Princess. Sure, Skyrim will be full of them, but I haven't seen them in many games yet.
Stealth begging for Spyro to get bought back by Insomniac?
Seriously, dragons aren't used near as much as zombies.
Dragons were the zombies of videogames before zombies were the zombies of videogamesExactly. So, if anything, they wouldn't become the new zombies, they would be reclaiming the spot they had before zombies became so popular. Truthfully though, dragons have always been popular.
The thing with zombies is you can put them in anything. There is no creativity to the setting, so their appearance has become common. Dragons only work in fantasy settings. Although they have become cliche in that genre, they don't really have the same potential to reach critical mass.
You could always play Lair.I sure hope so. Dragons are awesome. Plus we still need a good dragon riding/flying game this gen.
