Anyhow, for our latest show - Stage 005 - our main topic of discussion was that wonderful little game Deadly Premonition. As a part of that, Nick contacted the game's director, SWERY, and he was kind enough to do an interview with us over email. Awesome, of course, except for one problem: how do you take a translated email interview and do it right for putting into the podcast?

That is where Nick's mystical powers of persuasion came through once again, as he got one Mr. Jeff Kramer to record SWERY's answers for us. If that name doesn't mean anything to you, you may know him better by the character he voiced: FBI Special Agent Francis York Morgan

I am a fan of our ridiculously long podcasts, but my two co-hosts aren't. So, for anybody who listens to this episode and enjoys it, that will probably be changing in the near future. We actually had no intention for this one to run a ludicrous four hours, it just kind of... got out of hand. *heh* 
 
Anyhow, hope you all enjoy. It was an extreme pleasure for us to get the chance to do this.

It's always interesting to hear voice actors talk as their characters in these real life contexts.  I absolutely love it.

Haha, that was such a geeky sounding interview.   It's like someone interviewing their greatest idol.  It's pretty adorable.

I saw this linked somewhere else and just read the "interview with Swery" part of the description. I was hardly paying attention to the voice that stood in for Swery...and then I realized it was York and I went crazy. So awesome. Good job, podcasters!

Very good job getting both SWERY and York and bringing this to us.

Nice answers to pertinent questions as well.

Editing for the interview with "Swery" may be a bit jumpy but man if I didn't feel like a giddy fangirl when I heard York's voice; had to rewind to hear what he was actually saying. :P

More people need to listen to this interview. Also, for anyone wondering, SWERY gives a definitive answer for the dungeon sections. Actually, hell, he clears up a load of shit. Wow.

that sounds like the greatest idea EVER!

That was a really good interview! Most of the questions were ones that I would've asked myself, and we got some pretty good answers especially for the explanation of the encounters with the shadows. Of course, the fact that the answers were in the voice of Agent York himself made this 100 times more awesome. One thing that bothers me, though, is that SWERY keeps downplaying Twin Peaks' influence on the game even though he went to the same town where the TV show was filmed, quite a few elements are nearly identical in the story and setting, and even parts of the music are very similar to the ones found in Twin Peaks.

This is great, just listened to it. Loved the discussion on Deadly Premonition in general, it's highs and it's lows, as well as the amazing interview and good questions overall.

I wouldn't be surprised if the publisher asked him to downplay it, considering all the changes from Rainy Woods to Deadly Premonition to make it look less like Twin Peaks.

Also, I want another game from SWERY, however I do want it to be better designed and have a bigger budget than DP, I just want his fucked up story ideas to stay

This really made me want this game. SWERY seems awesome, and I really loved a lot of stuff from the game despite never having played it myself. I think what the speakers on the podcast liked about it mirrored my thoughts as well.  
Sadly I live in Norway, thus I would have to import it. That is to expensive for me at the moment. Hoping we will see more games from SWERY in the future, as well as hearing more from Jeff Kramer.

I'll listen once I finish watching the ER...and I'm only on episode 7 I think. >_<
