The thing about babies and engagement/marriages is that they are contagious. 1 couple gets married, suddenly there are a bunch in the same circle. Not too long ago I had a couple near me announce a pregnancy, now suddenly there are 3 babies on the way this year alone.
Has any scientific research been put into this? Because I see it all the time.

@hassun: I imagine it's just because of age. Generally people in your friend group are in the same age group/stage of life as one another. It's not so much that it's contagious as it is everyone just being at the same point in life.
