Quite the Cosmology
Have you ever caught something out of the corner of your eye and tried to follow it with your vision for a moment only to realize nothing was there? We human beings have an involuntary reflex to follow this kind of movement instinctively.
In the Cosmology of Kyoto while on the far edge of Heiankyo (ancient Kyoto). I caught sight of a woman in the woods at night with the corner of my eye for only an instant. I followed her into the forest until I could no longer see her. It was then that a man appeared before me and leveled the woman's severed head in my face, it was then too late for he revealed himself a discolored demon and I was already dead.
The Cosmology of Kyoto is not so much a game, but moreso akin to a game of Dungeons and Dragons, except instead of a dungeon master you have your computer monitor, and instead of dice you have a mouse and keyboard. Depending on what you do when you arrive in the city, you will encounter all kinds of hair-raising, mind-boggling, awkwardly hilarious madness and the choices you get will have definitive consequences, mostly where the curiosity will kill the cat, and probably devour its soul as well.
By the time I finished the Cosmology of Kyoto, I wondered to myself why they don't make games like this any more. Games that provoke the imagination, and like Monty Python's Confuse a Cat, leave you bewildered and humored -- And like the NIghtmare Before Christmas, leave you somewhat grossed out and yet wanting more. What am I saying?
The Cosmology of Kyoto is like a Japanese Confuse a Cat Nightmare Before Christmas. Except with more blood, less singing, more nudity and more samurai ghosts....
I think I'll stop now. If you enjoy strange encounters that boggle the mind then look no further -- do try it out!
