Overview
Cosmic Osmo is a comical, surreal sci-fi fantasy, point-and-click adventure game developed and published by Cyan for Macintosh computers sometime in 1989.
A successor to their earlier fantasy-themed game The Manhole, Cosmic Osmo features a science fiction theme with several bizarre locations to explore. Along with the titular alien Osmo, players use their spaceship to navigate to these places throughout space and explore them. Like The Manhole, there is no objective and players can navigate between locations through convoluted paths and shortcuts. while interacting with several characters and objects.
It later received a CD-ROM re-release in 1993 as Cosmic Osmo and the Worlds Beyond the Mackerel, adding several new locations as well as new sounds and music. This version was later ported to Windows PC computers, albeit with its original black-and-white graphics, with a GameTap release in 2008 and a digital Steam release on August 4, 2010. It also received a puzzle-platformer spin-off in 2007, known as Cosmic Osmo's Hex Isle.
