    Overview

Cosmic Cavern 3671 (known in Japan as Uchuusaidai no Chiteisaidai no Sakusen, loosely translated to "Strategy of the Universe's Underground Depths") is a deliberately-retro maze game developed and published digitally by Mindware for the PC on July 14, 2016.

The fifth game in the studio's "Video Game Classics" series, Cosmic Cavern 3671 is a remake of Chiteisaidai no Sakusen (loosely translated to "Strategy of the Underground Depths"), a Sharp MZ-80K series game created by Takaya Arita as a "type-in game" for the July 1980 (Vol. 5, No. 7) issue of the Japanese microcomputer magazine I/O. Along with updated gameplay features (including two player co-op), it features '80s arcade-style pixel art by Hiroshi Ono and authentic sound design by Yuzo Koshiro.

Described as a "tactical digging game", players must dig paths through the underground playfield (similar to the later Dig Dug series) so that enemies above can fall down them and get stunned (where they can be knocked out for points).

In addition to the remake, the game includes two ports: the original monochrome version ("Original MZ-80" mode) and a color version based on the Sharp MZ-700 series of computers ("Arranged MZ-700" mode).
