Preamble We are all getting older. On December 18, 2022, the Final Fantasy franchise will turn thirty-five . It's a crazy fact that puts your life into perspective, but it is true. However, we are not here to fall into existential crises about the fragility of human life! We are here to do what all good internet essayists or bloggers do these days: rampantly speculate about shit we don't know!...

For the first time since, I think Death Stranding, I've felt compelled to write not one, but two (2) blogs about the same game in short succession. In this case, however, I actually really like the lore and story of Elden Ring, as opposed to the Death Stranding one being about my trying to wrap my brain around the mess that was that game's story. So, as one might surmise, that means this is goi...

No-one's quite sure what ol' Jiminy-C was doing in that cave for the three days it took for him to resurrect, but I'd like to imagine he carved out a little "me time" away from his bro-sciples for some Nintendo 64 goodness. N64 Goodness would also be the name of this feature if it actually highlighted nothing but good times, but alas thanks to the random chooser process a double-bill of bangers...

Hello and welcome back to another instalment of The Very Best, Like No One Ever Was, a series of blogs chronicling my efforts to complete an "ultimate playthrough" of the first generation of Pokémon games. If you're curious about what that entails, I'd recommend reading the introductory blog for this series , which outlines the different ways I'll be playing each of the three games in order to...

I've been reviewing Indie RPGs for quite some time here on the ol' Iggo-Tweh (that's how you pronounce "IGotW," probably) and a trait native to the format that I keep circling back around to are the ways these games use brevity - often necessitated by the relatively truncated cycles common to Indie development - to its utmost potential, trimming the fat while leaving the core of the genre's app...

It's time to review the hot latest entry in a long running franchise that introduces open world elements, explorable dungeons, and your new witchy waifu. That's right, it's Rune Factory 5 for the Nintendo Switch. Rune Factory is a sort of off-shoot of the Harvest Moon series, where you spend your days chilling on a nice bit of farmland chatting up the locals and possibly finding love and starti...

If ever there was a game that was so hyped up that it felt like it could never possibly live up to those expectations, it'd be Elden Ring, right? Announced a decade after the release of the game that set From Software down the path to its current status as one of the most renowned studios out there (Demon's Souls), and ultimately released eleven years after Dark Souls, it had a lot to live up t...

Welcome back to The Wheel of Ukraineous Video Games, a celebration of video games developed mostly in the sovereign nation of Ukraine and also an accidental vector for me to play through the entirety of some of them, apparently. Man, I watched a friend play some of Sherlock Holmes: The Devil’s Daughter and that seems pretty fucking wild in a way I’d like to see firsthand. As always, I’ll be inc...

The Nintendo 64 holds a place of honor in video game history for being the first to confidently bring many favorite franchises into the 3D era, creating a string of first-party classics for Nintendo's third major console and cementing "64" as every '90s kid's favorite number until they turned a couple years older and added five to it, as has been our trashy gender's wont for many a generation....

Some days I feel like I'm the only human being on the planet without a smartphone. Never really had the need or inclination to get one. In spite of this, I'm now playing my fourth adventure game that primarily uses a smartphone and its various apps as a window into its world and the means to untangle the knotted web of mysteries that need solving. If I ever did pick up a smartphone I don't thin...

Time. Time is the fire in which we burn. When we think of time we think of old men in cloaks holding hourglasses, or Doc Brown's modified DeLorean, or a blue anime girl that says " Gwak! " a lot. Whatever the perception, I clearly don't think highly enough of time to not waste my weekends playing bad Nintendo 64 games and then reviewing them for their suitability for the Nintendo Switch Online...
