Hello there, it's been a while, and I made a list of games I played that weren't so hot to me in the year of games 2017. While normally I try to make lists for these things and usually have them on the dot before the turn of the year. It took me a bit to realize the other things I wanted to shout out are not good to put in a list format, so a blog post will have to do. These are games I didn't...

I started building and painting WH:40k figures less than a year ago, and I am having a blast with it! Probably never going to play, and I don't see myself with large armies, but I really like what I have made so far. To varying degrees. There are a lot of techniques I just don't get yet, and I do suck at a lot of the highlighting. Still, I think I have improved. So far I have three Ultramarines...

Welcome to a new year of Indie Game of the Week! We'll be talking about another fifty Indie games in 2018, barring any apocalyptic mishaps, starting with Telltale Games 's 2013-14 fairytale-themed detective noir serial graphic adventure The Wolf Among Us . I'd originally planned to put this one off for a while despite the glowing reviews it received at the time, in part because I'm generally no...

Editor's Note: Between the start of this project and now, I have resumed taking classes at a Large University in North America. These classes have eaten into a surprising amount of my free time, and I let this article sit unfinished for months. It is still not finished, but this is probably the most important game I will write about throughout the project. Therefore, I have decided to split the...

"This is what is known as a weeaboo that has ascended past a weeaboo. Or, you could just call this a weeaboo 2." - Naruto Well it's that time of year again. Time for my yearly anime checkup and you're my anime therapist. Just sit there, nod, and utter disinterested noises of acknowledgement as you digest these fractured thoughts that I have compiled for you. 2017 was yet another year of intense...

2017 was the year I truly gained a passion for video games. It's not that I didn't have some sort of a passion before, but this was a year that took gaming to more than just a hobby I enjoyed and into something that I felt much stronger about. At just about any point in 2017, I was in the progress of playing a video game, and while I've certainly been engaged with gaming news and streaming webs...

We did it! Hi Mom! I beat 100 Games in one calendar year! Here are the final twelve. 89. Full Throttle [1995] The old adventure game model isn’t what it used to be. This is a bit more serious than other Tim Schafer stuff. There’s still an enjoyable story being told here, but the humor is a bit more subdued. Mark Hamill plays a great bad guy in Ripburger. The only problem is, these adventure gam...

Author's Note: Hello there! My name is ZombiePie, and I am a moderator on this site. Every year I like to look at the various sources of entertainment I enjoyed and disliked. My awards are more like "special commendations" and are open to any medium. While most of the awards go to video games, you'll notice others go to wrestling, music, anime, and television shows. Oh, and one more thing, ther...

Boy games were long in 2017. Sure, this might have been the best year in gaming maybe in two decades, but I admire the person who got in all the ones worth playing with how bloody long they all were. If all these open-world games could kindly come to some kind of agreement to reduce their average length by about thirty hours next year, it’d be just great. All right, I’ll stop being a curmudgeon...

I'll keep the intro quick, 2017 flew by and I didn't get to nearly all the games I expected at the start of the year based on what I was tracking. I also bought a PS4 and Switch this year, which seems like ages ago. I feel bad for the PS4 because the Switch is one of the best things ever and I vastly prefer playing things on it. With that said, here's a look at a bunch of notables that I didn't...

As Vinny so often says on the Beastcast: "It's the best time to be playing videogames" and 2017 had one of the strongest games lineups in recent memory. Japanese developers made a strong showing in the first part of the year, while American and European releases held down the the second part. The Nintendo Switch launched, the PS4 hit it's stride and Xbox One X finally got Microsoft back on trac...

Alright, so here’s the thing: I’m not doing a “Best of 2017 that didn’t come out in 2017” list. That came about for various reasons, the most obvious being that I didn’t play a ton of noteworthy older games for the first time this year. Aside from Ninja Gaiden Black/Sigma 2 and a handful of visual novels it wasn’t an especially great year for new, old experiences (I still intent to finish Light...

What a year 2017 was for video games. Many are drawing comparisons between 2017 to 1998 and 2007 as people are seeing it as one of the best years for video games ever. It’s honestly been such a good year for video games that it even got me to get way more invested in video games again. In case of anyone is wondering what I mean by my last sentence; I’ll admit that I haven’t really been super ac...

Hey! Guess what? We made it through 2017, congratz! It's no secret 2017 was an intense year for a lot of issues outside of our video game world. Even within the game industry, many did not come out unscathed. Personally, it was a very rough year for me. Losing my job at the start of the year and ultimately coming to the decision to leave an industry I was working in for years was difficult. Whi...

Some thoughts on my year, completely optional! How does one go about summarizing 2017? It was a year we had hoped would be better than 2016 but it ended up perhaps being a second year of surprisingly bad news. For me, it was a year of change and new experiences. I went through a divorce, lost a lot of weight due to stress, anxiety and lack of sleep. They don't really do films or songs about how...

As it has turns out there has personally never has been a better time for me to playing video games than 2017. The combo of first year of full time employment and not being a STEM major meant I had just the right combo of available funds and free time to play more games than I have in just about any other year. I also happened to pick up a PS4 this year so there is some catching up on what I mi...

A lot of good games came out in 2017. Here’s the list I kept of what I’ve finished, 7 of which actually came out this year. So not limiting myself to just what came out this year, but what I actually completed, I going to talk about the ones that stuck with me the most. It's six hours before 2018 as a write this, and I figured I would contribute to the end of year shenanigans and write a thing about my favorite games from this year. I played a decent amount of stuff from not-2017, so I decided to just restrict this to the five 2017 games that I finished and felt like writing about. I was gonna write more, but it was pretty long, and I was kinda lazy, so here's...

I won't preface this with some self-aggrandizing thing about how bad of a year 2017 was and how I found solace in video games or whatever. I think we've all heard enough of that and I've got nothing particularly profound to add but I will preface by saying that over the last couple years my time and my drive to play games has severely diminished. I attribute it mostly to just getting older and...

So like some other people on here I decided to take the Giant Bomb categories and decide what I thought would win. I didn't include all of the categories as I skipped ones that I either have no strong opinions on or had nothing that fit the category (I didn't play a game that I'd be comfortable describing as "worst). So without further ado: 2017's Old Game of the Year Mario Kart 8 Mario Kart 8...
