A series about the greatest weapons in first person shooters (although I might widen it to shooters in general). Preliminary list Flak Cannon (Unreal Tournament) Rail Driver (Red Faction) Super Shotgun (DOOM)

As predicted at the conclusion of this game's Intro blog , I'm nowhere close to completing World of Xeen. I'm not even close to completing Clouds of Xeen , the first "half" of the game. That isn't to say that I won't (temporarily) leave the game in an encouraging state: my party is level 15 now, getting closer to the max for training (on Cloudside at least), and have most of the dungeons cleare...

Howdy, all, to this week's second episode of my The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past randomizer run. If you're new, I'd break the ice, but we already kinda did that last episode by shattering the Ice Palace and its guardian. Instead, I might recommend you visit here for all the deets and greets. Shoo, go on now. The rest of you, who have been loyally following Garflink's expedition through i...

Be warned, there are brief Bioshock Infinite spoilers ahead. After discussing Bioshock Infinite with a friend, a game I haven't played since it was first released in 2013, I wanted to revisit some of the criticism that shrouded the game after it's launch and see how well they held up. Browsing through articles and reviews, I noticed that a lot of people seemed to have an issue with the characte...

Hi, welcome to my little recap of my effort to raise money for Pencils Of Promise. Four years worth of effort into raising money for different charities via video game live streams and not much has really changed on my end. But the one thing that has always improved is the amount of donations everyone manages to raise each year. With over $8000 raised we managed to support 108 kids that now get...

For those of you who have not read any entries in this series these before, I'm playing through a couple of adventure games from each year following the release of Monkey Island 2 . It’s been over a year since the last entry, a lot has happened for me personally. I had a really terrible time for a lot of last year, but happily at the end I managed to achieve a pretty big career goal. The last f...

"Oh boy, Mondays." That's probably what's running through Garflink's head right now as he stands at the precipice of Turtle Rock: the penultimate The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past dungeon and the only one that shares its name with a track from the TMNT movie soundtrack. That's right, it's time for the seventh episode of this Garfield-themed randomizer playthrough. Be sure to walk, don't r...

Dad of War will not be the subject of this internet blog. I think it's quite good. Maybe not "Game of the Year" good, but absolutely worth a look. Oh hey. I guess it’s been a while since the last one of these, huh? You can blame a couple of factors for that. The first and most obvious is that, for as much as I’d like it to be otherwise, my amateur blog about video games simply doesn’t demand pr...

May always finds me in a nostalgic mood, largely because I keep choosing to make it the home of a month-long series on 90s PC gaming. I've been considering older console games too, not only due to my May proclivities but also because of the sterling work Microsoft has been doing of late to make its various hits of the past backwards compatible with the Xbox One. I'm not sure there's ever been a...

This weekly series is no stranger to graphic adventure games, and the Indie market never tires of making them. Yet, oddly, I've never got around to one of the most prominent franchises of this particular genre: Deponia , from Daedalic Entertainment . Part of the reason why is that I've always heard mixed things about these games, about how often the humor misfires or other fundamental issues th...

"All I remember is what I have lost." God of War III ends with Kratos having finally achieved his vengeance, and in doing so, seemingly destroyed the world, or at least Greece. At the time I found this ending, in which Kratos finally realizes that all he's done is destroy, and attempts to kill the one thing he hasn't yet, himself, to be fitting for the series. In the eight years since playing G...

Oh lord, it's that time of year again - "PrE3." Whispers are popping up in podcasts and comments sections. Everyone is getting frenzied about what games will be shown at E3. I'm no stranger to that mania - in fact, last year I listed some of my favorite announcements. But thinking back on it now, how many of those games did I actually play? The first game on my list was A Way Out . The premise...
