Honorable Mention: Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order I really thought this was going to make my Top 10 list. I like Star Wars. I like single-player games. I like the Uncharted style of traversal and exploration. This game has all of those things. It’s a competently told Star Wars story, and the traversal mechanics from development studio Respawn, at their best, evoke the freedom of movement they rev...

Just thought I'd share that I made it to the top 10 in a Tetris 99 match. I never crack the top 50 so this feels pretty good. Here's a screen shot. That is all.

Hello! I will probably do a real top 10 games of 2019 as a list at some point (when I finally catch up on playing some more of 2019's games). Until then, I thought I'd do a bit of writing about 5 games that I think of more than any others when I think about games of 2019. These aren't my favorite 5 games of the year, and they are not in order of how much I like them, but they are games I've spe...

The top 10 list is a fun tradition, but I always wonder, what about the rest? Most of us play more than 10 games a year, so what happened to the others? For the past few years I’ve taken to ranking the rest of the games I played in a given year, and use that as a chance to (very) briefly speak to them. It gives a more holistic picture of my gaming year, and I have fun doing it too. That’s exact...

2019 was a strange year, it started off very strong with the January releases of Resident Evil 2 (Capcom was smart to skip the Christmas rush) and Ace Combat 7. As the year went along though, a few big games did come out (mostly expected sequels). Nothing really stood out from the pack. Respawn and EA managed to surprise with a good Star Wars games release, Nintendo released a nice steady strea...

2019 was a kind of bizarre year in games. At the midway point of the year I thought the industry was in sort of a drought, but by the end I realized there was way too much good stuff for me to find the time to play it all. With that said let's get to it. 2019's 2018 Game of the Year Celeste was my favorite game of 2018 and looking back my decision to call it game of the year last year was absol...

I've made the spreadsheet. I'm checking it twice. With Giant Bomb users making Game of the Decade lists. We're gonna find out which games were pretty nice. Game of the Decade is coming to town... Edit: Going to call the cut off 11:59 p.m. 10th. That's 10 full days into the new year to decide the best games of the last 10 years. Makes sense to me. Edit 2: Actually got one more person I'm waiting...

It's that time of year again. I present another ordered list of games I have beaten this year. As with previous years this includes game not released this year. You can check out my 2017 and 2018 lists. In this list you will find a lot of my continuing thoughts on the FFXIV, DQ, Yakuza, KH, and Character Action. Thanks to having already wrote those thoughts down I have managed to go on as many...

I’ve seen a lot of discussion about whether or not it’s been a “good” year for video games, but 2019 turned out to be a fantastic one for my personal tastes. And look, I get the reasons why it felt… different. With new consoles on the very near horizon, there were fewer marquee AAA titles or big-budget sequels, and the kinds of games that usual clean up awards were nowhere to be found. In its p...

I’ve put it off long enough. If you are looking for the games that didn’t come out in 2019, that blog is over here ! Starting at ten and working our way down: AI: The Somnium Files Listen, I’m probably not going to do an anime blog this year. For better or worse, I didn’t watch a ton of Japanese Animation in 2019, and most of what I did watch has already been discussed to death (an overdue rewa...

Welcome to the Bucketlog! It's going to be 2019's year-long blog series, focusing on games I've been meaning to play since forever. I've put together a list derived from a mix of systems, genres, and vintages because it's starting to look like 2019 might be the first "lean" year for games in a spell (though time will tell whether that pans out to be true) and I figured this would be a fine oppo...

AllTheDinos' Favorite Games of 2019 2019, huh? If there is a consensus on this year in games, it’s that it’s been a weird one. As the calendar marched on and high profile releases seemed to be in short supply, it looked increasingly likely that Doom Eternal would tower over everything else. And then that game was delayed to… March 2020, when seemingly every huge game is slated for release. Perh...

**I wrote this shortly after finishing AI: The Sonmium Files but never got around to posting it. Now that we are at the end of the year, I thought I’d polish it a bit and finally upload it. As I say in the write up, I actually do like this game but this post is more about me venting about my issues with the title and how I thought it could have been better. For an abridged version of my thought...

Hey all, another year has passed and another bunch of great games have came out. 2019 felt like a really strong year in terms of video games which makes it slightly unfortunate that I've not been able to play as many 2019 release as I would have liked - hence, this list will be slightly different again, just like last year. Apparently I missed out on a game called Outer Wilds? I'll get around t...

2014: Reviewsical the Musical! For the last three years I’ve cataloged every game, movie, television series, live show, and book that I’ve consumed within that year. Why? Mostly because it’s fun, but also because it’s oddly fascinating. I spend a great deal of time wrapped up in the vast worlds that inhabit each one of those categories, listing them feels like I’m making a photo album. One that...
