Hello and welcome to my blog! Only about 6 more days until the launch of Forza Horizon 5. In case you were wondering how is Forza Horizon 5 going to be released before Gran Turismo 7 and Forza Motorsport Reboot? so here is my theory: Forza Horizon is an arcade open-world driving game series while Gran Turismo and Forza Motorsport series are both simcades. Open-world driving games featuring perf...

Schlocktober '21: Castlevania: LoS: Mirror of Fate HD was made by Metroid Dread's developer. It's 'meh.'

SCHLOCKTOBER '21: This October I have been playing a number of games with Halloween appropriate themes, focusing on older and less appreciated games in my backlog. These aren't necessarily horror games but rather games with strong horror elements. I've decided to blog about these games and whether I think they're still worth playing as a seasonal treat or the gaming equivalent of an apple full...

Ranking of Albummers!
Published Oct 29, 2021
If you're a masochist like I am, you've probably listened to at least part of every album covered in the Albummer show. And if you grew up in the ranked-list-obsessed era of the Internet like I did, then you also have the same kneejerk reaction to sort the albums into a hierarchy from best / "best" to worst. The crew just reviewed their 13th album this week, which seemed like an auspicious numb...

Indie Game of the Week 243: Creepy Tale
Published Oct 29, 2021
I've been knee-deep in horror games from 2017 for this month's Dredge of Seventeen entry, but one more couldn't hurt (my cardiologist might have a different take though). Creepy Tale reminds me of the Frog Detective games: not in the sense that they share an aesthetic or a sense of humor, but in how they seem to be propagating fairly quickly by being relatively brisk in size and reusing some of...

There's A New Star Ocean And tri-Ace Refuses To Own Up To Its Biggest Mistake (i.e., Till the End of Time's Plot Twist)
Published Oct 28, 2021
So They Are Making A New Star Ocean Game! (Also, SPOILER WARNING!) Oh... this sure looks like PSO2. Star Ocean: The Divine Force was announced recently for the PS4 and PS5 with a 2022 release date . That coincides with the franchise's 25th anniversary, and while many were speculating something big from tri-Ace, a full-fledged game seemed low on the list. With Star Ocean effectively hibernating...

VN-ese Waltz: October - The Letter
Published Oct 27, 2021
Decided to spend the second half of 2021 checking out some renowned visual novels . Sometimes my ideas aren't any more elaborate than that. I've tried to discuss the following games in as spoiler-free a manner as possible, with a very spoilerish section at the end for my final thoughts on where the story goes. Well, it's Halloween-adjacent, so I figured I should play the spookiest visual novel...

20 years of Grand Theft Auto 3
Published Oct 24, 2021
I remember reading about Grand Theft Auto 3 in Electronic Gaming Monthly and renting it when it released for the PlayStation 2. It seemingly came out of nowhere (in the same year as the release of Metal Gear Solid 2 no less) and absolutely blew me away. It changed the perception of what an open world game was and what you could do in it. While the series has been stuck with GTA V seemingly fore...

Metroid Dread: The Goldilocks Zone
Published Oct 22, 2021
It’s rare that a long-awaited product meets expectations, but the final iteration of the languished Metroid Dread is here to great acclaim. While I haven’t heard from anyone who fully dislikes the game, I found it interesting which criticisms did pop up. One group of people thinks the game is overly difficult and leaves players to get lost without any help. Another group wishes Dread didn’t hol...

Feeling pushed away by “Player Retention” events?
Published Oct 20, 2021
So Pokémon Unite got an update today to add a Halloween event. They changed around the gimmick of one of the quick match maps and add some themed rewards to earn and buy. Something new and different to keep players interested. Except I feel like this might be the last thing that makes me finally push away soon enough. I actually had another post I’ve been brewing around in my head about “obliga...

Indie Game of the Week 241: Forever Lost: Episode 3
Published Oct 15, 2021
It's Halloween month, which means it's time to revisit the moody puzzle-adventure series Forever Lost for one last spin around the perplexing, multi-symbolled block. I first tried this series back in August of last year with IGotW #183 after picking up the whole trilogy of episodes in that big Summer Itch.io charity bundle , moving onto the second episode in that same year's Halloween-themed fe...

So... I've been watching a lot of Hololive (a VTuber talent agency of sorts) clips of late and recently they've all been playing a lot of Minecraft after the servers for the Japanese and English-speaking members were combined. It's been cute seeing both sides struggle with the language barrier when encountering each other, but more than that I've been impressed by all the elaborate construction...
