Color Dreams was a game developer in the late 80s, early 90s. What separated Color Dreams from the rest of the companies developing for the NES was the fact that they chose to develop these games with no official license from Nintendo.  The company was able to to still make these games, even without the license, because the company itself reverse engineered the NES to figure out a way to work around the systems "lock out" chip. This was the chip that Nintendo used to prevent unlicensed companies from making working cartridges.  The first of these unlicensed games was released in 1989 and was called Baby Boomer. Other titles that came out later include Captain Comic, Crystal Mines and Robo Demons.

Even though Color Dreams was able to bypass Nintendo's "lock out" chip, the games did not always work with the NES. This problem damaged the companies reputation and forced the company to make a new branch of the company called Bunch Games so that they can continue to create the same quality games without damaging the main companies reputation any further.

In 1991 Color Dreams created another branch company called Wisdom Tree was created to release Christianity-themed games. Wisdom Tree released Color Dreams most popular games while it was part of Color Dreams. Wisdom Tree eventually split from Color Dreams when they went out of business in the mid 90s. Wisdom Tree continues to release religious games to this day.
