Cliff Racer

Overview

Cliff Racers are large, aggressive flying creatures that appear in The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. They dwell in most areas with the exception of towns and cities, although they can follow the player into residential areas. Their combination of numbers, aggression, and the sound they make have led the creatures to become unpopular to the point that players of the PC version have created mods specifically for the purpose of removing them from the game. This reputation led Elder Scrolls developer Bethesda to write lore into The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion that details how a Morrowind NPC successfully took on the Cliff Racer species and became a hero.

St. Jiub and the Cliff Racers

The entire Cliff Racer population on Vvardenfell was said to have been driven out by Jiub, the Nerevarine's fellow inmate on the slave ship from the beginning of Morrowind. Jiub was granted sainthood following the great deed, but would later perish at the hands of the Daedra during the Oblivion Crisis.
