    Car Mechanic Simulator 2014

Game » consists of 1 releases. Released Jan 24, 2014

Play a fanatically honest and hard-working mechanic while investigating and repairing a range of problems with various parts of a car including brakes, suspension, engines, oil changes, and many others.

    Short summary describing this game.

    Career Mode

In career mode you are given a very quick introduction into what you'll be doing and then you dive in, the game leaves you to find out everything for yourself including what parts go where.

The game starts out asking you to turn on the radio, simply walk up to it and left click it. Clicking multiple times changes the radio station but I personally just turned off the in game music anyway.

Using the car lifter is the same, click once to make it rise, click again to go back down.

Mission 1: Brake Pads & Brake Discs

You are introduced to the invoice screen, here you are shown what you are being asked to do, the amount you will be paid, and some reasoning for the person bringing in their vehicle in the first place.

As you can see we're being asked to replace the front brake pads and check the brake discs. Both simple tasks.

The game will ask you to buy the brake pads first, so go over to your computer and click the car parts shop, you have to use new parts, it wont accept used ones.

Buy 4 brake pads and push escape to close.

Go back to the car and click on either of the front wheels to inspect it, click the wheel again to start removing it and hold left click on each bolt to unscrew them.

Once the wheel is off you'll see the brake disc and the brake calliper, remove the calliper and you find the two brake pads we need to replace for each wheel.

Go ahead and take off the old brake pads and right click to open the quick menu, here we can examine conditions to examine the brake disc.

Once done, right click to change back to disassemble mode, then right click again to get up the quick menu and click assemble mode.

Two white outlines should appear where the brake pads should be.

Click each one and insert a brand new brake pad, then put the calliper on and finally the wheel.

Go to the other side of the car, rinse and repeat.

    Voila!

Once you're done just hop back to the quick menu and click the invoice, you'll see ticks next to each task you've completed and if they're all complete, click the "REPAIRED" stamp to finish up.

    Mission 2: The Filters

In this next mission you are tasked with replacing the three filters: air, oil and fuel.

The air and oil filters are at the front of the car while the fuel is at the back.

It's a simple start by popping the hood, you'll see the various parts of the engine.

What we're after is that small black cap next to the exhaust manifold (big grey thing on the left)

Take that off and you get access to the oil filter, take it out and we can move on to air.

    Remove the filter

The air filter is hidden safely under this cover, but as you can see a part attached to it is glowing red. This means we can't take off the cover till that part is removed.

That part is connected to the air flow tube, take that off, then the air flow meter, then the cover.

    One air filter

Now before we go get the fuel filter, let's finish business at the front end, go to your computer and buy one new air filter and a new oil filter.

Go back to inspecting the engine and open your quick menu (right click) and go into assembly mode, look for the greyish outlines to replace the new filters and their respective covers along with the other bits we needed to take off.

Once you've done that, close the hood and turn on the car lifter.

Head to the back of the underside and inspect the under carriage. What you're looking for is a small grey filter, the fuel filter.

Take that off and replace it with a brand new fuel filter.

Go into your quick menu and finish the job!

    All Filters Done, $300 Please!

    Mission 3: Test Drive

Something is wrong with this vehicle and you're tasked with finding out what that is, the easiest way is to do a test drive.

Go behind the van and up to the doors, interact to start a test drive.

Each part of the test must be done in order, drive up to the green area, follow the yellow arrows and drive down to the red area and brake.

Once fully stopped, braking will be ticked and you can continue to follow the arrows to do the slalom, just hit each green area.

Then the suspension test is simple, drive over the bumps to the green area and stop at the red area.

Once you finish the test drive you are taken back to the garage, go into your quick menu and hide the body and show parts condition.

This let's you quickly see any major damage in the vehicle.

There are two red parts by each wheel, to get to them you'll need to remove both wheels.

These are the sway bar link left & right as well as the left outer tie rod.

Go ahead and remove them and go to the computer to buy:

    1 x Outer tie rod

1 x Sway bar link left

1 x Sway bar link right

Note: You do NOT need to remove any other parts, removing the wheels gives you access to what you need.

Replace the broken parts with new ones and you'll be able to finish the job.

    No more knocking!

    Mission 4: ODB Scan

This is possibly the easiest mission in the game, all you need to do is a scan. No replacing parts, no changing oil not even test driving.

Go to the driver side door and open it, get inside and use the OBD link.

Wait for it to finish, then right click to get out, go into the quick menu and finish the job.

    It's that simple.

    Piece of cake

    Mission 5: Repair Starter

This is the first time you're asked to repair something, it'll cost $85 so you're not getting a whole lot of profit for this.

Notice it says repair and not replace.

Pop the hood and rotate round to see behind the engine, there you'll find the starter. It's easy to detach, nothing needs to be removed before it and it only has 2 bolts.

Walk over to your repair bench and repair the starter for $85.

Go back to the engine, go into assemble mode, rotate round and put the starter back.

Go into the quick menu and finish the job.

    Starter repaired

Mission 6: Something Wrong With the Clutch

Time for a test drive, this will help us find the broken parts as well as being required by the mission.

Go to the doors behind the vehicle and start that test drive.

Same as before, follow the course driving through the green areas and stopping in the red ones.

After the test drive, pop the hood and look at the gearbox, the hint being there's something wrong with the clutch.

What you need is behind it, here you see the starter and both drive axles need to come off. To get the drive axles off, the wheels need to come off.

Go ahead and remove the starter, both wheels and the drive axles.

When removing the axles, you may need to zoom out a bit (mouse wheel or Q/E) to see the bolt that needs unscrewing.

Go back to inspecting the engine and remove the gearbox, behind it we can see some red (broken) parts.

Remove the clutch release bearing, clutch pressure plate and clutch friction plate.

Here we see all the parts I've removed from the car, the clutch release bearing and clutch friction plate are both in poor condition and need replacing.

Go to your computer and buy new replacements.

Start assembling the new parts, put the gearbox back on and the starter.

The two drive axles cannot be put back from the engine point of view, you must go to each side of the front wheels to put these back on, then each wheel.

Once it's all back in one piece, go ahead and finish the job.

Try not to break it again!
