Call of duty fans are even more annoying and pathetic than halo fans at least halo fukcing tried to do something innovative (AKA vehicles but fucking PC first person shooters did it first and fucking online) and had a small thread hanging off it of originality in the Art after it ripped off metroid for the bad ass suit idea like her fucking power and varia suit. No thanks I rather stay home and watch fucking oprah reruns or something then go to Quakecon (AKA the real First person shooter convention.).

WOW man, you need to relax.

And Blizzcon is different.?  It is just WOW every year and even their long-awaited sequals are virtually identical to the originals.  As is usually the case with elitists, they don't realize that just because they dont like something doesn't make it suck.  If this was really without merit nobody would go, and I can almost guarantee you it will sell out.  Just give it up COD is the powerhouse of gaming.

I can say with 100% absolute certainty that playing paintball is more fun than playing any Call Of Duty game.

@DeanoXD: I think you're taking the cynical route by theorizing that they're trying to fool us into believing they're taking a loss. You're entitled that though. Yes, they'll have sponsors. Will they cover the entire cost of the event which has to be staggering and the near million in ticket proceeds. I don't think so, I think, they're actually being honest.

They didn't consider the part that Blizzard waits like 10 years between sequels instead of putting one out every year.  That is part of why people get so stoked for Blizzard sequels.  If they put out a new Diablo game every year, people would buy them, sure, but I don't think many people would be really super-pumped after a few years of that.  You can't miss what never goes away.

I'd be happy if the CoD franchise is killed off. If I have to play one more game where an explosion knocks me over, a buddy helps me up, and said buddy dies at the end of the level im gonna barf.

Slight issue with this is that Blizzard has 3 franchises and call of duty is only call of duty. I think I would grow bored much more quickly of something that just shows off one game.

im a Halo fan myself, but i am actually really interested in this. 150 is a big number, but depending on what you get prize wise, it may pay off at the door.
the paintball recreations are kind of cool, and i think id also be willing to pay half the amount just to get two or three attempts to run the Pit at a record time.
depending on what else is offered, this could be a steal. Just like Blizzcon

Based on his masterful use of "phat lolz", I would wager that he did not get that far into the article, sir. I'd bet that he just saw the headline, wiped the drool from his mouth, and started typing.

I mean, if there is a demand for it, have at it, and I hope they enjoy the convention. That said, a convention for basically a single game seems a bit excessive. But hey, I am sure they tested what the demand would be before they tried this, and they are probably right

Call of Duty Endowment sounds like an organization that would endow people with copies of Call of Duty.

This is a "charity" event headed by an organization run by one of the greediest men in the gaming industry, so I have to automatically wonder what percentage of the money will go to "administrative" costs.

    I know, I can be a bastard.

It's cool that the proceeds go to charity, and if enough people are really that passionate about CoD I'm glad they have something to bring them all together. I'm interested to see how this turns out.

Bizzcon works because people who play Blizzard games are nerds and have nothing better to do then go to blizzcon.

Most the people who play COD play casually and have lives, they don't wanna spend there weekend at a gaming expo.  It is nice however that the money is going to charity.

Activision is really trying hard to turn CoD in to a cultural phenomenon and I just don't see why they're dumping so much money in to it. In two or three years, something better will have come along and dethroned it and where will their legacy be then? Same thing happened to Halo; sure Reach did really well but imagine if Microsoft dumped hundreds of millions dollars in to marketing schemes for it? They'd be in the hole for most of that money. Seems like a waste to me
