Levels that progress forward by themselves at a fixed rate.
A bullet pattern is a top-down or side-view barrage of bullets, in a repeating pattern, that the player must dodge (or in some cases the player must hit the bullets).
A "cute'em up" is a branch of the shoot'em up genre of video games that involve weird or cute enemies and protagonists. Game titles that would fall into this genre include Parodius, Twinbee, and Gunbird.
Fever mode is a frantic form of bonus round, found in some puzzle or arcade games, triggered by player achievement such as reaching a required score or hitting a enemy or zone. During fever mode the player can rapidly score more points or do more damage than in regular play.
An act most commonly found in top down shooters where bullets/danmaku touches your character model but not your hit box. Some games give bonus points for the act of grazing.
In some games, either after completing the main game or as part of the game itself, players must replay a harder version of the same level. This is not classified as a different difficulty level, as the levels usually add new mechanics or enemies.
In many games there is a ranking system, the players with the highest point value are listed in a "high score" table.
Being able to fire bullets in quick succession. In earlier video games, often acquired as a power-up.
When a game throws so many objects at the player that it's difficult or impossible to keep track
