Alternative blood is blood other than the usual red variety.
Usually caused after a fatal blow, when a character is bleeding out they will have only a limited amount of time to live as their health slowly depletes. They must quickly seek assistance or die.
When blood will splash textures on walls or floors and even roofs.
Many Horror and adventure games use blood trails to either signify that something especially violent happened that spot and/or that following it will progress the narrative.
