When
Kratos jumped into the River Styx in the beginning of
God of War III, he was attacked by a soul that drained him from all his power and destroyed his weapons, the
Blades of Athena, he was, however, met by the ghost of
Athena who took the ruined Blade of Athena and turned them into the Blades of Exile.
These blades behave very similar to their predecessors, the
Blades of Chaos and Blades of Athena, in combat. However, these blades have demon horns on its hilt, razor sharp hooks on its lower edge, and fiery stripes forged into the flat sides of the blades. They also grants Kratos a magic ability, Army of Sparta, and the ability to grapple enemies.
