I know about the fourth map that will come once the PS3 slackers make it to 43 million (right?) kills but do you think they'll update it with more in the future? Will it be an update, a DLC to an XBLA game (is that possible) or a whole new game?
Battlefield 1943
Game » consists of 4 releases. Released Jul 08, 2009
Return to the Pacific Theater in this simpler, downloadable, console-exclusive sequel to the massive World War II first-person shooter Battlefield 1942. It was later shut down on December 2023.
More Maps?
I hope they release new maps. The ones available are fine (not a fan of Iwo-Jima) but I would like some more in the future.
Seeing as 1943 has been downloaded somewhere around 600,000 times I think additional maps and content are a forgone conclusion. I personally would like to see something from the European front in the next packet of maps.
" i think they will probobally realease like new maps for a dollar or two or something like that "^^

I hope they add more maps soon. I'm already burnt out from this game and when fall rolls in I'll be playing bigger and badder things.
I think they will probably be more concerned with working on Bad Company 2 and Battlefield 3. Of course I could be wrong but think that they want to finalize and perfect their full retail products rather than their $15 downloadable title
" @MeetThePyro said:They did say that it only takes like 3 or 4 guys a few hours to pump out some maps, so it really wouldn't be that much trouble for them though. I would think that it's pretty likely." @Coltonio7 said:To your knowledge? "Iwo Jima isn't trash either, it's a pretty good map. In all probability, there is a good chance we will not see any new maps, the game was not even originally intended to be a release, it was a project that got started for fun and ended up being too good not to release. There is a high chance the devteam will continue as normal onto their next project. However stranger things have happened, the games obviously been very succesful and it wouldn't surprise me if they decided to get working on some DLC to capitalise on that success."
" They should charge cash for them this time ... else its not fair on the PS3 owners being forced to waitThats right its YOUR own lazy fault that we pay for DLC !! "That or just release them at the same time on both platforms (for free) but that's wishful thinking in this day and age. Maybe they could compromise and offer players the opportunity to pay to unlock them but unlock them for everyone once certain conditions are met.
And what's with all the Iwo Jima hate here? I think it's my favorite map, it's nice that all of the points are different and easy to remember on that map. Wake Island on the other hand...
They arn't going to release them for free. Battlefield 1943 is currently #5 on the XBL activity charts. Not just the XBLA game activity the full retail game charts. They are almost definitely going to come out with more maps and most definitely charge for them.
" i think they will probobally realease like new maps for a dollar or two or something like that "I am really hoping for a dollar or two but you know they will be at least $3-5 bucks a pop!
I think it was Coral Sea that was a side project that got added in. I never heard anything about the whole game being a "for-fun project", but you may be right. Also, DICE said that depending on sales they would add DLC, and it's broken all sorts of records. Even if it did start just for fun, if it's selling and they can make money, why wouldn't they capitalize on that?Iwo Jima isn't trash either, it's a pretty good map. In all probability, there is a good chance we will not see any new maps, the game was not even originally intended to be a release, it was a project that got started for fun and ended up being too good not to release. Also, some people are mentioning paying map by map, but I don't think they'd ever do that. They'll probably release 2-3 at a time and sell them as a pack. Selling them piece-meal would segment the base too much. Besides, pack in a poor map with a great one and people have no choice but to pay. :)
