Factorio was robbed.

Wow, Hades won by so much. Wonder what the biggest lead has been for a game in previous years, because that is almost double second place.

I clicked through to some of the other years out of curiosity and I think this might be the biggest margin of victory ever!

More people need a play Amnesia Rebirth . Frictional Games are quietly the best horror Devs in gaming. The stories and worlds they put you in on a small budget is insane . I'm happy for Supergiant though!

I forgot to vote, but 6 of my top 10 made it on the weighted top 10 list. Success, and all I had to do was nothing!

Games that werern't released in 2020 could make the list?

This is the kind of blowout I wanted to see for Hades.

@hassun: I don't think so. With the exception of Among Us, which is just sort of a weird one, I believe everything on that list released in some capacity in 2020, be it a release on a new platform (ex. Death Stranding on PC) or a 1.0 release out of Early Access (ex. Factorio or Hades)

I expected Hades to win, but not by that much!

Not surprised by the results, but...Crusader Kings, Flight Simulator, Gears Tactics are all great! Go try them (on PC Game Pass, and Gears is on Xbox as well)

Color me surprised Cyberpunk did as well as it did, when everything surrounding it is a dumpster fire.

@nameredacted: I was surprised too, I put about 50 hours into Cyberpunk in 2020 and it's not that great. Even aside from all the bugs and drama surrounding it, it's a fine to pretty good game.

Yay, Factorio at least got on the list!

I think Bugsnax should be higher. I just think they're neat!

I am Glad CK III made a list

It's notable that not only is Hades a great game, but it has a super wide appeal. It's approachable enough that almost anyone can get into it, no matter what sort of games they usually play. Glad to see Spelunky 2 making respectable numbers too - that game rules. Regardless, this was a great list!

I'm sad Sludge Life didn't make the top 50. It's my #4 and Rich Gallop's #1. I even tweaked my list for voting and bumped it up to #1. It's free on Epic until June! Such a colourful world, packed with suprizes, humor, and a touch of social commentary.

It's cool to see Gears Tactics here (especially over Xcom! which I agree with!), it flew under the radar and was a surprisingly good Xcom game.

Whooo doom eternal gettting in the top 10! Seems like the staff really brushed it aside in the goty proceedings, but nice to see the community get around to it. Felt like i was crazy for enjoying the hell out of it.

That margin is flipping huge. Well done, Hades.

I'm really surprised Valhalla is received so positively, including by Alex. I'm a huge fan of the series, and I've enjoyed them all, sometimes in different ways, but this is just such a long flatline of a game. Truly unremarkable.

@spankingaddict: 100% agree with you.. One of the best atmospheres all year. I had to go back and play the older ones too before Rebirth came out and that was great as well. Also, Soma is the best horror game ever made. Don't @ me.

KRZ eeked in top 20 of both glad but waaaayyyy too low.

Happy to see 13 Sentinels in the top 20. Just finished that game after Jan's GOTY enthusiasm convinced me to get it, and it really is something unique and special. I don't think it fully sticks the landing, but the non-linear way the story is told is really cool.

... I didn't realise Control still qualified as a 2020 game, otherwise I would have had it at Number 1 every year it was eligible lmao

You guys nailed my top 3 games of 2020. The only difference is TLOU2 is my number 1 and Hades is my number 3. But TLOU2 being in second by nearly 300 votes is awesome. It goes to show that the people crying about the game were in the minority, but were also the loudest in the room.

Wasteland 3 gang RISE UP!

I don't mean to take anything away from Hades landslide victory, it's a phenomenal game, but I would imagine a large reason for its ubiquity across so many lists comes down to a very important detail. It's an incredible 25 dollar game compared to the seven other 60 dollar games that make up the top 10.

Certainly its quality alone earns it the top spot but that significantly lower barrier of entry means it probably should show up on more lists than the others where people are likely having to pick and choose which full priced games they're picking up rather than getting them all. And the buzz around Hades was so much higher than any of the other great lower priced games as well.

You can saw, yeah lower price point, but you're also talking much lower marketing. Everyone knew all of those games were coming. Hades had been chugging along in early access, then they just said "we're done" and then it fucking exploded.

I think it has more to do with hades just being a game that anyone can get behind. It's hard to come up with flaws, and it executes everything it sets out to do so pefectly. even if it doesn't personally like completely emotionally speak to you, it's gonna end up somewhere on anybody's list that touched it. probably in the upper half.

contrast that with every big game this year that gave a lot of people mixed feelings. Doom. Animal Crossing. Last of Us. CYBERPUNK???

Damn, Avengers didn't even make the top 50? Not that I expected it to be anywhere near top 10, but I would've guessed it could at least scrape its way into top 50.

That's more of a list I can get behind. The lack of The Last of Us Part II in the official one was a crime.
