The angara are the only known extant sapient race native to the Heleus Cluster of the Andromeda galaxy. By the time of the Andromeda Initiative's first contact with them, the angara had been waging a decades-long resistance against the invading Kett.
The kett are a hostile race encountered by Andromeda Initiative personnel in the Andromeda galaxy and serve as the main antagonists of Mass Effect: Andromeda. They are not native to the Heleus Cluster and in actuality are many races that have been transformed through "exaltation" into Kett.
