Android 16 is an android created by Dr. Gero to kill Goku. He was considered a failure and remained deactivated until Android 17 killed Gero and activated him.
Twin brother of Android 18 (technically Cyborgs in this case) Android 17 was created by Dr. Gero, but rebelled and killed him. 17 is absorbed by Cell and dies with him, but is later wished back to life with Cell's victims. He becomes a Park Ranger and starts a family.
Twin sister of Android 17, the only female "Android" (actually a Cyborg in this case) created by Dr. Gero. 18 is absorbed by Cell to transform into his Perfect Form, but is later spat back out. She marries Krillin and they have a daughter, Marron.
Dr. Gero is a scientist that worked for the Red Ribbon Army. When Goku destroyed that organization, Gero swore revenge, and created androids to kill him.
