    Overview

    SEGA AGES 2500 Series Vol. 7: Columns is a falling-block tile-matching puzzle game developed by SIMS and published by 3D Ages for the PlayStation 2 in Japan on December 18, 2003.

    The seventh installment of the SEGA AGES 2500 series of classic game remakes, Columns features a higher-definition version of the 1990 game Columns. It also features a remake of the Columns '97 variant (with the game's music, animated 3D jewels, simplistic scoring, Magic Jewel gauge, and grading certification), which is also used for the new VS CPU and VS modes.

    Both VS CPU and VS modes are similar to the VS. Columns mode in Columns II in that players use a special version of the Magic Jewel to either clear all jewels of the same type, raise their opponent's playfield, or lower their own playfield. The VS CPU mode features a unique story themed after Ancient Egypt, as young explorer Curate battles various creatures to acquire treasure.
