I'm thinking about buying a virtual ticket for Blizzcon this year. I'm really interested in seeing both the trailer for the Warcraft Movie and Legion. Also interested in following the Hots tournament and seeing all the panels and shit they have there.

Has anyone here ever bought a virtual ticket before. If so what was the experience like ? Do you think this is a good way to follow Blizzcon with out accually being there ?

I bought a virtual ticket before, it was super easy. Just log in with your Bnet account, purchase it, then your account is good to go . That being said I never watched anything, I was just one of those horrible people who wanted the pet in WoW, but I think they send you all the links and stuff to view it when it's actually going down.

awesome. to tell the truth i would not mind having that murkydan pet and the mount for Hots. My real worry is there is any lag in the stream itself.

@toxicfruit: From people I talked to last year, the stream was solid. It's all their own in house production, since it's there convention, so I'd expect the usual Blizzard level of quality. I haven't heard of anyone who got it and watched it being disappointed in quality, but like anything, results may vary.

@freezyfrog: It gets rerun for about a week after it's over but I don't know if it goes anywhere after that.

@toxicfruit: I've gotten it before, the stream quality is generally very good. It's always been stable and very rarely drops to SD.

I've bought it every year they have offered it digitally. Keep in mind that opening ceremony (where all the trailers are shown and the announcements are made) is free and the tournaments are free so if you just want to watch those don't get the virtual ticket. I've had problems with their video player in the past, it used to lose the stream if I paused for too long but last year was solid. You can scan through the day's stream and archives of each segment start appearing a few hours after they finish as VODs. Sometimes the choices of where they cut each VOD can be a bit weird though.

The quality of production is great, the hosts are solid. If you are interested in hearing the developers step through their design process then I highly recommend the virtual ticket.
