Overview
Yakuman DS is a riichi mahjong game developed and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo DS in Japan on March 31, 2005.
Part of Nintendo's dedicated mahjong series Yakuman, Yakuman DS is the only game in the series to base its character roster off of Nintendo's flagship Mario series. Along with in-depth guides to the Japanese variant of mahjong, the game includes multiple single-player modes against numerous characters from the overall Mario series (each with their own unique playstyle), as well as wireless multiplayer for up to four players (with both multi-cart and Download Play support).
A revised version of the game was later published on September 14, 2006, titled Wi-Fi Taiou Yakuman DS, which adds Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection support for online multiplayer.
Characters
The game includes 20 characters from the Mario franchise as opponents, each with their own difficulty and unique play style. Only six characters can be used as the player's avatar (which also prevents them from being the player's opponent): Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, Toad, an Donkey Kong.
The below lists them by their rank, from the weakest (Goomba at bottom rank) to the strongest (Toadsworth at top rank).
