    Platform »

The Nintendo Wii is a home video game console released on November 19, 2006. The Wii's main selling point was the innovative use of motion controls that its signature Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers allowed for. It became the best selling home console of its respective generation of hardware.

Since I've now decided to not bother buying a PS2 and stick to the current generation, my attention has turned to the Wii.

Is it a bit too late to get a Wii? I know WiiU isn't too far away, maybe the end of the year or sometime next year, but there's quite a few games I'm interested in playing... Skyward Sword, Xenoblade Chronicles, The Last Story, and Pandora's Tower.

    Oh, Project Zero 2 too.

I'd say wait a bit longer for the wii u. Might get another price drop. But it's already at a pretty good price but it's never too late to grab a console

As of the last time they talked about the WiiU, it was not compatible with any sort of GameCube stuff, so if that's something you might ever need, then keep that in mind (of course, GameCubes also use GameCube stuff).

As far as I'm concerned, you may as well just use Dolphin.

WiiU is going to use Wii remotes and be backwards compatible right?  If you waited this long, might as well wait 6-9 more months.  And if the WiiU ends up being too expensive for you, the wii will probably be even cheaper by then.

Probably the best time to pick up a Wii. It's way cheaper and all the best games already came out!

Suppose! There's quite a few games I'm interested in playing, I had one years ago but there wasn't any real games for it I was majorly interested in besides Twilight Princess.

Also, fuck, they beefed up the virtual console!

Well if you want to play gamecube games & Wii games then yeah, the console is cheap enough to get without much guilt. Figuring that for the WiiU they might put a couple of those titles as virtual console but probably not a lot so with the next Nintendo console, you'll be stuck with whatever is just out for the WiiU & Wii for games. Considering the huge amount of good PS2 games out there & how cheap that system is new, you can probably do well with going that route too as the games are stupid cheap for the PS2. Most of the gamestops around here have tons of PS2 games but not a lot of GC or original Xbox titles.

I don't see how it can be to "late" at all. Infact you're probably better off buying one now than you were buying it when it came out. I mean look at all the cheaper games you'll be able to find! Plus the fact you will have a far bigger library of titles to choose from, so yeah.. I think right now is a great time to get a Wii! :D

I was thinking of buying one sometime in the near future, so no! A handful of great games for cheap.

Do it. There are great games for it, especially if your into Nintendo developed games. I would wait after E3 and see what Nintendo says at the press conference. If you don't think waiting for a Wii U at whatever price it comes out at, buy one now.

I'd say that the Wii is worth it. Try to get one that can play GameCube games too if you can.

Edit: Actually as people have pointed out here, the WiiU is going to be backwards compatible with the Wii, so maybe it would make sense to wait it out after all.

I think it's been too late for a year. You've literally got only months to wait for the WiiU.

If you have another current gen console I'd recommend avoiding it and wait for the Wii U.

Even though the gamecube components in Wiis cost very little, Nintendo decided to take it out for the 2011 and newer batch to probably save some cash, it's sleezy, but also business. You can tell if the specific wii does not support GCN by looking at the wii logo on the system, if the wii is standing up and spells wii vertically, its the good, GCN supported one. If when you set the wii on it's side and it spells wii laying down, its the 2011-2012 edition. Example of the one no one should get....

No it's not too late to buy a Wii. I bought one a few months ago for the first time and I don't regret it. I say buy a Wii that is GameCube compatible if you think you might enjoy some of those titles as well. I still disagree with you not buying a PS2, if there are JRPGs you want to play, just about all of them are on there.

No, and it's not too late to get a PS2 either. If you're only getting one, get the PS2.

its never to late but if you have waited this long why start buying it now it is said that the wiiu is backwards compatible and there will properly be a sever price drop on the wii when the wiiu comes out. (speculation)

so unless its something that you just want now just wait if you can
