The Order: 1886 Goes Gold, Gets New Trailer

So pretty, first game of the year that excites me.

Yep, still think it looks fantastic. Definitely picking this up next month.

i hope this game is good, i liked what i played at Pax Prime, but the big draw with this game is gonna be its story.

I really hope this will be good. The lack of monster fighting in this trailer has me concerned.

Don't remember seeing much of the damage modeling in previous videos, looks pretty great. Definitely excited for this game, even if it is just a basic cover shooter.

Seems like a good rental to me. You play it once and then forgot about it.

Does anyone else hear Emperor Palpatine say "Execute Order 1886" in their head whenever they think of this game?

Anyways, I just realized I am excited for this game.

Even though there have been plenty of people saying that the game is very insubstantial in the gameplay department, I really like the look of it. I especially like the little details, like the Victorian soldiers with the pith helmets.

Also, I hate when movies, and now apparently games, throw text on the borders. It takes away, personally, from watching the trailer.

This is a first time for me, but I hope they are saving a lot of supernatural elements for the actual game.. I feel this game could benefit greatly from being a bit wackier...

really hope this pans out, could be a real showpiece game for at least next gen visuals.

I will buy this because there is nothing else to buy.

This is certainly much more bombastic than the last footage they showed. I wonder what kind of tone this game will end up having. I'm onboard, in any case.

That's a dope trailer. Color me interested.

This seems very well-acted and the setting is definitely interesting, but I'm really worried that the gameplay and plot are going to be bland from what I've seen.

@damienduerst: That definitely looks to be what they're shooting for, by which I mean it's a linear cover-based shooter with an overwhelmingly gray palette in which you kill humanoid monsters with large guns and everything looks so filthy I think my retinas got tetanus.

You're right. That's at least the fifth character named Lafatyette I've seen in the past month and a half.

Now that it's gone gold, how long before the beta starts?

Ziplining, hanging off ledges, free-running... is Ubisoft making this?

Trailer was fantastic! If this game comes out unbroken, the delay may have well been worth the wait.

Boy, that was a movie quality trailer there which makes me a bit worried. I hope the gameplay is solid and it's not all QuickTime events. I love cinematic games and even if it's a tight 8 hour experience I would be more than willing to play it over and over again. Will be anticipating the reviews for this game

Look, if this game is 6 hours of middling cover shooter and QTEs it still feels like a thing I want to have just to look at it. If it turns out to be any better than that, hey, gravy on top. Ready at Dawn have made cool games before, I'm hoping for slightly surpassed expectations here.

I believe that the characters are the historical/legendary figures. So Sir Galahad is the person from the Arthurian legend.

It'll be shit, every press member who played it has been so underwhelmed; sure it looks nice but that doesn't make a game, most of the games I play look real dated.

The thing with Ready at Dawn is that none of their games are very innovative, what they do is they build polished experiences using common mechanics. They really push the hardware they work with to the limit.

This does not look like the most interesting game to play but I want to see the story play out and it is way more interesting than the rest of Sony's current lineup with the exception of Bloodborne.

If the story is interesting and gameplay isn't broken, then I'll take it. Looks great.

@benmo316: It is a little obnoxious but I have a feeling since this game is so cinematics-centric they like drawing the comparison to a movie trailer.

By the time Feb 20th rolls around thanks to the brilliant release schedule that games adhere to a lot of people will be starved enough for anything new to play that they'll probably pick this up despite the middling buzz surrounding it. So far it's somewhere in between 'whatever' and 'looks interesting' but "looks interesting" is the highest praise I can think of.

cut scene, cut scene, cut scene, 1.5 seconds of covered based shooter, cut scene, cut scene, cut scene. Rinse and repeat.

They are actually using 4xMSAA + Post Proc AA. This means that they had to cut the viewable area down in order to render everything. They aren't using those borders in the game so they might as well put text on it.

Nobody can deny the IQ in this game is amazing.

Really hope the story doesn't just turn into the Crackdown/Syndicate thing of "Oh, well as it turns out you were working for the bad guys, and now you're working against them."

Other than that, pretty excited for this.

The setting/atmosphere at least looks incredible. It's definitely worth a look.

That trailer has just made the game look heaps better than any of those video walkthoughs.

This seem like Ryse with guns to me. Very appealing visuals but real sub-par game mechanics. Are people excited just because there isn't anything else first party coming out to the console in the near future or what? I do not get the excitement at all.

People around here love to say "garbage" now. Is your opinion that thin? What looks like "garbage" about this? It surely can't seem worse than any other 3rd person shooter. Garbage is a strong word without explaining why you think it looks so bad. I've heard plenty of people say the game looks like a generic shooter, or that it's not their genre, or that the story seems bad, or that it's not innovative enough. What makes this garbage to you?

I like what I played of it. I can see why people are nervous about it, however. If the whole game is as fun as the demo they had at PSX, I think it'll be a good game. I just hope it's long enough. I imagine a lot of people renting this because it's single player.

It's definitely one of the most interesting games they had at Playstation Experience. Take that however you wish (whether the lineup sucks or that this game really does play well). It's nothing revolutionary, but I wouldn't play very many games if that were how I measured what's good. It's a 3rd person shooter, yes.

I'm ready for a third person shooter, and am a sucker for Nikola Tesla shenanigans. Will buy!
