Goes by the name "Revolver Action" in BlazBlue fighting games, in which it allows players to link their assigned attack buttons from A->B->C->D as the moves are cancelled in ascending order. This is the case even when a player starts with the B or C button instead.
This is a mechanic implemented to make learning a fighting game approachable by making some combo routes among very different characters more clear. In some cases, this can only be performed if the attacks hit rather than hit a block, this is to avoid players abusing block-strings.
