Yesterday, sources close to Activision brought to our attention The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Game has been delayed indefinitely on Xbox One. This news was further substantiated by the cancelling of my pre-order at local EB Games outlet. Today it appears that official websites have also been updated removing Xbox One from the list of available platforms for this title.

The Reason for the delay is not known at this time but could it have something to do with the fact that Sony is producing The Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie?

Not that I think anyone was particularly keen on another movie tie in game, but this seems pretty damn crazy. After all the game is due for release in what, 3-4 weeks? Word on the dev circuit seems to be that the XBO dev tools aren't quite in the same place as the PS4's (along with the architecture being a little more complicated) so one can only assume that this might be the result of that.

Would have been a system seller, too.

The PC version is out on the 29th, last time I checked, so it's actually two weeks from now. I'll gladly check out a Spider-Man 2-like Spider-Man game on PC, but I fear I'll be busy playing (the real version of) Dark Souls II.

Such a loss for the platform.

Although no one will really care or miss the game, the fact that companies are passing on XBox One for even throw away movie franchise games is kind of...different.

The "lifeblood" of consoles is a steady flow of new releases...even crappy ones. Canceling titles never bodes well for that platform.

Not a huge loss, anyway, the first game wasn't all that great.

I imagine it's a matter of cost to port vs. install base that would actually buy the game, honestly.

It could be that to some degree, but I also imagine that these licensed titles rely a ton on timing with the movie they're tied in with. Canceling it might be seen as preferable to even a relatively short delay.

im not expecting a five star game but decent distraction.

it will be interesting to see why. im guessing some kinda bug rather than anything else. seems a bit to quick to start dropping titles from xbox one. espically for a movie tie in game.

It's a Sony movie, so all other things being equal if one new console version was going to slip I'm not shocked it was the Xbox One version. Might not have anything to do with it, but it would be kinda embarrassing for Sony if the PS4 version slipped instead.

@razielcuts: Really? You think Sony isn't concerned about cross-corporate promotions? Their commercials suggest otherwise.

Screw the movie games, bring back games like shattered dimensions.

Postponed indefinitely sounds pretty nuts for something like a movie tie-in game. It's like saying "nah, we have enough money" which is crazy talk for a business. So is it out of spite? Is the XBONE totally broken? meh, maybe they just didn't feel like using resources to get this throw-away title through MS cert or whatever.
