Telara

General History  

The world of Telara sits at a colossal nexus of  the elemental planes in the Rift universe. It is the only known world to be comprised entirely of sourcestone, a material that allows elemental energies to materialize and take tangible forms. As such, it has become the target of the Blood Storm, a pantheon of dragon gods from the various elemental planes, each intent on destroying all life on Telara so that it may be transformed to meet their own purposes. Once protected by an elemental barrier known as the Ward, corruption from within has since caused the Ward to fail, an event known as The Shade. Since the fall of the Ward, the Blood Storm has continued its elemental assault upon Telara, opening rifts to planar realms wherever they can and launching invasion forces, transforming the lands as they do so.
