Well the Battlefront games never cared for first-person. Heck, they didnt even have a reload animation. Third person is the way to go.

Huh. I've always played in 1st person because I played the series on a PC and didn't realize there was a third person perspective (besides when having the option to play as a hero). If playing with a controller then playing with a controller seems the way to go.

i wouldn't mind if first person perspective disappeared from games altogether, i just prefer having that extra spacial awareness, and i prefer seeing my avatar.

Always played them in 3rd person. Especially helped in 2 when you played as a Jedi or if you played on the PC only server where everyone was a jedi. Man that was an incredibly fun mode. Darth Maul kicked so much ass.

I need this game in my life now. Looks gorgeous, hope they nail the Battlefront gameplay.

Both! Though I remember playing in 3rd pretty much all the time.

@bonorbitz: You know I don't remember but I want to say yes. You have to configure a lot of stuff manually (key bindings and such). Been a few years since I've actually checked.

Third Person when I played on consoles, First person when I played on PC. I don't like the first person perspective, though, because the viewmodels and lack of animations on the roll are pretty janky.

First person for sure, but if they put in 3rd person everyone not using it won't be able to peek around corners and will be second best as a result.

I always did third as it felt a bit more grand, like seeing the character model was akin to seeing an action scene from the movies play out, also the first person view was kind of handled poorly I always felt.
But I doubt that will be the case for the new one so I figure I'd switch to first (if there is even a third person option at all for the new one) when it comes out. Soooo booooth?

Yeah. I think this was also before there were a lot of popular 3rd person shooters around (Gears, etc), so it felt a little novel at the time. Differentiated it from Halo and whatnot.

I played 3rd mostly, better viewpoint, the new one will most likely be first though if i had to guess. Hopefully we'll get the choice.

My favourite thing to do in Battlefront 1 was play Bespin with Jedi enabled and try to kill Dooku by blasting him off the level with grenades, the only way to actually defeat a Jedi as far as I know.

The first-person mode always seemed off to me. The movement didn't feel right for that perspective, and the FPS gun models looked cheap. I suppose DICE ought to be able to pull that off though.
