Silencer was a game originally released on Sierra's World Opponent Network (Won.net) in the late 1990s. After garnering a following of dedicated fans and going through a few releases, the game was taken offline when won.net shut down. For many years, the game was not able to be played. Over the years, fans of the original tried to create various clones and re-imaginings of Silencer. All of these efforts seemed to quickly fall apart, or took too long to make any progress.
In 2013, a new project named ZSilencer was created and very quickly showed great promise of becoming the replacement that fans had longed for. ZSilencer is free to play and is after a few releases became a "99% Accurate" clone of the original game, complete with all agencies and inventory items available. It is also open source.
