It's not perfect - and it's really dumb that it doesn't sport a 4K Blu-ray player - but I don't hate the PS4 Pro. Being primarily a PC gamer, this seems very similar to upgrading my CPU or GPU after a period of time.

If somebody is new to consoles, go buy the original bundle that is ~$200.00, especially with Black Friday right around the corner. If you like your current system, keep what you have. If you have limited funds and need to buy select systems, hold off until Scorpio in 2017 (if not delayed, if it does't have a ridiculous price tag.)

But...if you have some extra money sitting around, can sell or trade in the original system for credit/funds against the PS4 Pro, it should be a decent upgrade to the system that gives additional storage and really good 1K framerates/graphics or early access to some type of 4K and HDR (primarily upscaled) output.

I do agree that this is only a bump in performance and not true 4K rendering, but I've certainly made similar, if not significantly more expensive, upgrades on the PC. I have a GTX 1080 in my current system and 4K at 60+ FPS is certainly hit or miss, depending upon the game and settings. If nothing else, people have more options available.

Oh jeez Jeff. Same with my mum. She has got better over time though. Time is the hardest thing though. Take care man, things will improve to a point. My uncle had a massive stroke too. Now he goes flying down the road on one of those mobility scooters to do his own shopping! I live near him so I still see him go whizzing past when I happen to be looking out of the window or walking up the road. Both are still going although my mum also has cancer and it's terminal but in a way her stroke makes it easier for her ironically as she forgets about that. She's with me at home and she has carers too so she is as comfortable as she can be for now.

Going to a wedding tomorrow, and on Tuesday the mum of the bride had a stroke and she died Wednesday night. She was dying of cancer anyway but we hhoped she'd make it. I was supposed to skype the wedding for her, hoping that she'd make it that far.

It sounds like there's a difference in process between Native 4K and Upscaling but why is it important to consumers? If I'm sitting at home playing a game, will I even notice a difference? Or is it just a thing for extreme technology snobs to argue about?

First off sorry to hear about your mom Jeff. wishing you and your family well.

now kind of a correction for the Pro stuff. I think their problem understanding it is because they talk about it like it's the tiniest bit more powerful than the regular ps4 or something. It's a bit more than double the gpu power, 30% faster cpu, more ram for games, better memory bandwith. I mean, it's not the increase of a new gen but it's still a pretty big bump. The Cerny DF article detailed a lot of this tech and he also talks about extra hardware built in that helps with this stuff.

Vinny also seems really confused about the power needed to run native 4k stuff. There are already like 18 games(here)that are confirmed to be native 4k on the Pro. And no that doesn't just mean it's a 4k signal it means 3840x 2160 res.

Most big AAA games going forward aren't going to be native but instead Cerny said a lot will render at a higher res than 1080 (like 1800p) and then use the checkerboard technique to get the rest of the way to 4k. Which even though it's not native, people have been really impressed by how close it does look. DF said for the price this seems like a great upgrade after seeing these games in person.

A live-action Sonic anything doesn't sit well with me at all. Along with the whole 2006 mess, Sonic X had that kid character too and if I remember correctly he's not liked.

When Alex said Tails cosplayers my mind went to Tales of cosplayers instead :p

One stunt that flopped hard was with Capcom and Dragon's Dogma Online. They were trying to find success Square Enix had with FFXV and those guys in the car and tweeted a high-res picture of some orcs. Naturally, they were mocked for it. Companies latching onto community memes is not good, but them trying to force a meme is pretty bad.

The sameness of men's fashion, especially when really formal, is pretty depressing.
