Hey guys, since you luckily started playing this on PC, I strongly recommend making use of the fine work done by two RE4 superfans over at re4hd.com. They've been working for over five years to remaster the game's textures from the ground up, and even started doing some model and lighting fixes, too, and it looks sooo much better (see video comparison here). The download page for their latest release is here. I really hope that if you continue playing the game you'll take advantage of this major visual upgrade.

This was hilarious, hope they consider making it a series.

I can't imagine playing RE4 for the first time with 3 other people who keep talking through the entire game.

Ok, can all fluent Spanish speakers keep posting about how shitty the Spanish is in this game. I mean, in good humor, but I'd love to make that a known fact for all the English speakers getting back into this game.

Also, it's hilarious bad, if you were wondering. It's never not funny.

EDIT: Also also, man, that first encounter plays weird in 2019. This US cop walks into some dude's house uninvited, the dude says "what the hell are you doing here, get out!" and the US cop proceeds to shoot him in the face when the dude tries to kick him out (admittedly with a hatchet, but still).

I'm pretty sure that would have caused an international incident, even if Mr. Loose Cannon Kennedy over here didn't proceed to massacre an entire town and blow up a historic landmark immediately afterwards.

You are 100% right, and as someone who put around 200hrs into RE6 I think it is good and doesn't deserve the hate it gets.

Is this any decent with M+KB? The times I've tried to play it I immediately thought it was the worst shooting mechanics I've ever touched.

I love giant bomb with all my heart, but sometimes it’s a little annoying when the fact that all the guys in the room try to argue with the only woman in the room about a common occurrence. Abby was clearly passionate about not wanting to see dicks on the street, and the guys were like “yeah, but...” I’m positive they mean well, but sometimes...idk you don’t always have to have a rebuttal? Other than that, please inject GB playing resident evil games directly into my veins!

After 4 you should continue Claire's journey with Code Veronica and Revelations 2.

RE 4 is amazing and RE 5 was great! It's a real shame RE6 is a straight up dumpster fire that ended the series!

Also... Women totally pee in public! A lady pee'd in front of my car the other day in the Jack in the Box drive-thru! In lunch traffic right on the pavement! People are disgusting and gender is irrelevant.

Ashley is 20, Dan, so creeping on her is not illegal.

I love the location-based damage in games like RE4 & RE5. Especially when the melee option is so powerful & bullets are somewhat scarce, it's not always the best choice to headshot enemies. The bullets also feel very impactful, with the enemies falling over or getting knocked back. A lot of the shooters where numbers pop up lack that satisfying feel.

I love Abby playing Resident Evil games!

@noelveiga: Also, any indictment of our man Leon would go out the window the minute anyone pointed out, "Uh, those 'innocent villagers' also used a truck to shove two national police officers over a cliff to their deaths. Also, they impaled, staked and burned another 2-3 officers in the village square and fed at least one more police officer to a giant fucking salamander-monster-thing in their lake. Not to mention the insane tiny albino nobleman who's declared himself a sovereign entity and is raising a private army. ;)

Cap dudes in the knee then kick them. Knife them on the ground. Save your ammo for the big dudes.

This game is pretty much the perfect gauntlet of challenge and pacing. I hope she plays the whole way through because there's always something new that challenges you in a way the game hasn't thus far.

i have only ever played this game once but isn’t there supposed to be a chainsaw guy in that village?

Resident Evil 4 is an all time favorite game for me and I loved Abby experiencing this game for the first time. FYI for if Abby keeps playing it, I believe subtitles are in the main menu’s options. I just replayed RE4 earlier this year, and I think that’s how I enabled subtitles.

Man, Abby + Resident Evil is just the secret sauce combo for greatness.

Crazy that she didn't trigger the chainsaw dude in the village opening. Missed out on a great moment.

I think the chainsaw guy can kind of appear randomly. I think if you board up the house he appears earlier. When you are running around it is a more ambiguous “after a while” sort of thing. The last time I played RE4 he showed up for like 20 seconds and the scene ended before he did anything. I was surprised he didn’t show up at all here.

Like someone else said. Ashley is in College so it's perfectly fine to admire her ballistics. God forbid if she was 17 and one day from turning 18 though.

@noelveiga: Honestly the spanish from the villagers is not that bad, it sounds like an average latin american dub which is usually made in mexico... Which brings out the terrible part, you are supposed to be in Spain, and the accent and grammar is completely off.

So yeah... Mexican village in Europe Spain, that is fucking weird.
