I must have only played World Heroes 1 because I'm pretty sure that I would have remembered that football player.

Street Combat is a reskinned American release of the Ranma 1/2 game they played earlier in RoF.

Man, I can't wait for the final part of the legendary Ranma trilogy. Will we finally see "the good ranma"?

Did the science team have a change of heart regarding Clayfighter after 0023? Cause it's supposed to be above DBZ UB22, not below it. (#39 instead of #41)

For someone like me who keeps a record of where the rankings have been, these constant errors drive me nuts. :P

I played a bunch of World Fighters 2 back in the day and liked it well enough. Fun to see it here.

World Heroes 2 Jet definitely seems like it fits snugly into the "Would be fun to mess around with for an afternoon" tier that comprises a large chunk of RoF's current scientific work. Street Combat just seems like a flaming pile of garbage.

One day we'll get "the good Ranma 1/2 game," Jason. It's out there somewhere, just waiting to be discovered by a crack team of scientists.

If you're taking requests at all. I recommend One Must Fall 2097.

Or at least the sequel, One Must Fall: Battlegrounds. I need to to hear how the science checks out on this very nostalgic game and it's less well regarded sequel.

World Heroes Perfect is supposed to be damn good but never touched that one. Awaiting The Science™!

Someone tell those complainers on those "other" forums and websites who think this "isn't a scientific list" that their precious Street Combat is ON THE DAMN list. And in the Top 50, no less!

I remember reading... probably Gamepro coverage on the World Heroes games, and thinking they looked so cool. They do indeed have a good style, but I found out years later they don't play nearly as well as they look.

I don't know if anyone's mentioned this before, but you guys need a "Good Ranma 1/2" T-Shirt. Not sure if it's do-able (copyright wise), but I would love to have it as a follow-up to the Ranking of Fighters shirt.

Really disappointed that Street Combat wasn't just a super bizarre Street Fighter ripoff instead of a conduit for Jason to talk about anime.

I know it's all a bit of a joke, but I think they should notate the platform of the game on the list (arcade, SNES, etc).

Man, the zoomed in resolution on Jason's camera is very noticeable.

I remember Street Combat from my childhood. The first jank fighting game I've ever played and I wanted to go back to SF2 shortly after playing it.

Love this feature. Can't stop the science.

I'm just gonna say, World Heroes 2 (vanilla) is the best game in the whole series, Death Match mode is so good, and it saddens me they didn't bring it back in any subsequent version (that I know of). The fact that they dismissed DM mode as 'not so good' hurts me, right in the feels.

Holy shit, Street Champions was released in the same year as Super Street Fighter II. I was thinking that SC was some late 1980's post Karate-Fighter experimental proof of concept.

Street Champion's development team should be sent to video-game-jail.

They'd need 16 scientists for Battlegrounds, the grants aren't THAT big.

I'm curious about the Neo Geo hardware. This game sure looks good for the time, but the latter day Neo Geo games look amazing for the time and even now. Did they change the hardware at some point, or did they just get really good at making games for that system?

@coldblood: Combination of the developers just getting better, and massively increasing rom sizes (started around 40mbits, ended up at 716mbits)
