I can't tell whether these are fake accents, or real Irish people that someone told to Irish It Up a few notches.

@adetheterrible: that's where I noticed it too. It's not an easy accent though, and there are quite a few variations across the whole of Ireland. I'm from Belfast and can hardly do a half decent southern accent either.

@adetheterrible: Yeah, with almost a hint of Scottish thrown in. The steam page mentions the two actors' names. The guy who plays Stanley is indeed Irish and the woman who plays Leonore isn't.

It kinda sucks that, for a game so focused on the character performances (and audio logs specifically), they didn't make sure the accents were on point. I don't hold it against the actress, it can be a hard accent to emulate, but the people making the game should have either invested in a proper voice coach or hired two Irish actors.

EDIT: Also, I dunno if it's just a typo but the subtitles label "bollocks" as "bullocks"... God damn it.

Anyone born after 1982 is a millennial. So that includes Dan, Patrick, Austin, Drew, Ben, and Abby. Dan is like the quintessential millennial.

@adetheterrible: I found that Stanley was played by Glenn Keogh who seems to be Irish-American while Leonore was played by Bess Harrison. I couldn't find too much on her but I believe she's just putting on an Irish accent.

Just think of it this way, nothing is as bad as the Sons of Anarchy's fake Irish accents. Leonore's sounds still if she's speaking Irish instead of the cartoonish Irish from Sons.

MATH TIME

The question being asked at 23:00 is a probability/statistics question and it is about permutations, which means the amount of times a group can be ordered. It's actually a pretty simple answer you can make visually.

there are 10 digits from 0 to 9 you can make, they are:

0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9

If you just look at combinations of two digits with the first digits being 0, it would look like this.

00 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09

Replace the first 0 with the second digit in the 10 available digits and ya get:

10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19

And you do this eight more times with digits 2-9 and see that there are 100 different combinations.

You can also do this by thinking _ _. There are 10 possible digits to put in the first blank and 10 more possible digits you can put in the second blank. 10*10=100.

Expand that to however many numbers you're looking for (I think Dan said a combination of five numbers), it would be _ _ _ _ _. 10^5=100,000 combinations.

The sign that says "Helviti" in the bunker means "Hell", by the way.

As a genuine Irish - He is (or is doing a damn good accent) but she isn't (or is from a part of the country I didn't know existed).

As someone who grew up in 80s (Northern) Ireland, the game intrigues me. Thanks @vinny!

EDIT 2 - If the story's going where I think it's going, neither accent is 'right'. Think Witcher 3's Skellige for something more apt. Oh well.

I like this sort of game well enough that I wind up playing through most I come across-- I even finished Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, extremely slow run and all.

Luckily I wouldn't know a good Irish accent from a bad one--it seems like a compelling performance regardless.

Phillips makes a line of headphones called Fidelio. I own the l2s.. and they are pretty fantastic. The x2s.. however are widely considered some of the best if not the best gaming headphones out there. Never used them myself but i have always heard they're just like my l2s but with more bass and a wider soundstage. They are really worth looking into if you can afford 300$ cans. From personal experience using much more expensive astros or other gaming cans' My 180$ l2s crap all over them.
