@drx25: Actually, I think it was supposed to be next year. The developer meant to release a demo, and apparently released the full code version on Steam, then went "...welp, ok." Or at least, that's how my wife relayed it to me.

We're both tired, could be hallucinating, as that's an odd scenario.

Haha, I love the mask. I love that they responded to people saying "why don't you give the PC a suit, then?" And I love how Patrick fumbles with it.

While I don't love these games there's something fascinating about the "viral" aspect of their success. Obviously a great deal of that can be attributed to popular Youtube personalities playing it, but it's taken on a life of its own with a passionate community that seems to span the Venn diagram of "innocent" and "lascivious." There are now countless arguments about lore and people role playing as the different characters and probably some sort of themed secret sex party happening right now. From an outsider's perspective it's puzzling and weird but also fucking cool.

I'm also willing to forgive just about anything because a fan produced this song, which is legitimately better than it has any right to be:

@meauntienora: Don't ask me how I know this, but TTFEA (Time To Furry Erotic Art) of the first game was like a day.

So that first jump scare caused me to spill my drink all over myself...

I'm glad people enjoy this but... I'll never understand how or why this is scary? Jump scares to me are the laziest form of horror. I mean if my cat can produce the same, if not worse jump scare then what does that say?

Well, whatever at least people enjoy it and it's making money for the creators. So what do I know?

It's incredibly stressful and tense to play, which is what makes it scary, rather than the jumpscares themselves. In a way, the jumpscares are almost a welcome relief, because you know you can finally take a break.

It's just kind of like... "Hey, we both know I'm going to jumpscare you and scream in your ear if you don't figure out the mechanics and perform well at every single second." Suddenly ten minutes of gameplay becomes one of the most stressful ten minutes possible.

It's not the jumpscare that makes it scary, it's the ten minutes of frantically searching around and trying your best to survive, knowing that you can die suddenly without warning at any moment if you don't keep on top of things.

Oh man I will never ever play this game.

I've always been fascinate by the first game even if I am too chicken to play it. Especially how the community discovered how each robot has a distinct pattern of attack that changes as the game progresses. This game looks even more difficult though.

Oh for crying out loud, what's with the redesigns (Chica, specifically)? It's like the developer saw the creepy fan speculation about Chica's gender and thought "Maybe I should make it a bit more obvious this time around."

I never knew these games were about those creepy fucking animatronic things.

@development: I loved that place as a kid, its was where a kid can be a kid lol..... it was a sad to see them changed to turn into chuck e cheezes... but then again i was too old at that point....

Can anyone explain how one actually plays this? Flipping lights on and off and such does... what?

Best guess is that different characters react differently to the lights, mask, music box, etc. and you have to learn which ones are affected by what... is that about it?

I don't mean to be mean, but Patrick scaring himself with the mask was really funny hahaha

I'm not as familiar with this sequel, but in the first game, the lights were for blind spots. There was a light switch on the left and right doors of your room, because if an enemy was directly outside your room, you wouldn't be able to see them in any camera, so had to flash the lights to see which door they were outside of so you could close it.

Other than that, you're right about different things affecting different enemies. People usually associate the game as 'Night Trap mixed with Pac Man', as each of the enemies has a different behaviour that you have to learn if you want to do well at it.

@bbalpert: It could be a clear appeal to the fans who draw Rule 34 art of the characters. There are a lot of them.
