I don't even care about these games, but I'm always looking forward to the NBA Quick Looks with Alex and Vinny. Last year's QL was great with the whole Spike Lee joint.

I'm really starting to dislike the Career mode in this game. So much down time in between games. Interactions with characters that I could care less about. I just want to play the basketball with my player.

@m1k3: Yeah, the beauty of Career Mode used to be the story that you built up for yourself in your own head as you slowly ascended up the ladder in NBA. I don't care at all about the story the 2K games are trying to force feed you now.

I want to say that it would be better if they made a sports game with their own pre-made character rather than putting your created character in that role (like Fight Night did and how the next Fifa game is going to do it).

Congratulations on the contract, Alex! Hopefully it doesn't distract from your hockey career.

I understand the appeal of MyCareer but these modes have never intrigued me for a variety of reasons, most specifically I feel too out of control. I also don't think these things are built with an honest "career" in mind. You can't be a Shaun Linvingston or a Taj Gibson, you have to be Kareem Abdul-Jabbar or Kyrie Irving. I've never gone deep into the mode, but even my best games were usually 8-10 points, a few assists, a rebound or two and solid defense, and I'd have fun until I got a C+ grade and admonished for not playing a good game despite my team winning and giving a solid contribution. I've also seem a few images on reddit of NBA players texting guys to congratulate them on their game the previous night, and no matter what a "I wish you would have scored more than X points but that's not all that matters" is baked into the conversation, even if the player scored 91 points. I honestly don'twant to put up 40 every night and be the greatest basketball player ever made in this mode.

I've mostly been playing MyTeam so far this year after getting really addicted to MLB The Show's Diamond Dynasty this past summer and it's a really poorly implemented version of that feature compared to DD in my opinion but it's a fun enough way to learn the players and the game. This game needs a major patch though; it's less noticeable in quick games with actual teams (still very much there, just less obviously) but there are some advantages granted the CPU during MyTeam Domination that just aren't fair to the player and honestly don't seem intentional. The Operation Sports NBA 2K forums are becoming almost singularly focused on these issues because, aside from them, this is easily the best a basketball video game has been since 2K11.

One of the worst ones occurred right before halftime in Alex's MyCareer game against Portland, the CPU sets a ton of moving screens on your PG throughout the game where he gets slid all the way to the baseline; not only is this egregiously illegal in the basketball rulebook, but your AI teammates will never do you the same courtesy. Along with the weird suction and slowdown animations when you're on offense or a fast break, the CPU is given boosts that just don't seem necessary considering they also hit perfect release points on their shots about as often as you don't. By default they're obviously going to be more accurate shooters than you, so they shouldn't also be more efficient (and cheap) on defense than you are.

While watching Alex play the solo career, there wasn't any fouling. Therefore this is much better than real basketball.

Also, why didn't we get to see Shaq, Kenny and EJ during halftime? Is it because of the historic Knicks? I didn't notice they didn't do the pre-game either but that's kind of a bummer. I heard they also don't have pre-mid-post game scenes if you're using a created team in the MyLeague expansion modes. One of the best bits of their broadcast production and we didn't get to see it here and it's left out of the coolest new feature of My League. Shame.

The currency is really only relevant to MyCareer. It appears in other modes, as an alternative currency in MyTeam to...MyTeam points and in MyGM for changes to your team but there's no competitive advantage against the CPU you can buy in that mode. In MyTeam, you can't use the VC in the auction house, and you can't exchange it for MT, so it's only usefulness is buying packs, each of which has 1 random player in it and costs something like $5 so it's pretty fucking obvious you shouldn't waste your money on that, especially when you earn enough MT to buy a pack roughly every 3-5 games.

You could buy a ton of VC to speed up getting your player from a bench-level guy to an all-time great in MyPlayer, which in turn gives you a competitive advantage in the ProAm leagues (which apparently people take seriously as a budding "eSport"?) so that's a little shady, but...I hated VC when it was first introduced to the series several years ago, but they've done a pretty good job of making sure it's really only relevant to MyCareer in my opinion. MLB The Show only has stubs for currency, and I caught myself spending another $20 or $30 on the game in addition to the $70 I paid at launch just to have more stubs. I'm just thankful 2K's MyTeam currency isn't purchasable and MyTeam mode is somewhat garbage compared to Diamond Dynasty.

Having never played any NBA games besides the free PS+ version of NBA2k16, I am pretty compelled to learn more about the sports rules and get better at these games. I think it's pretty refreshing to play if you only ever play soccer games sports wise.

I didn't realize they switch out color commentators in this year's game. That's a great idea to keep things fresh.

I wish they could get Mike Breen and Walt Frazier in this game.

I'm the same way with fifa, i played some of 16 with my nephew and had a great time even though i didn't understand the rules at all lol. I kinda want to get fifa over this honestly, even though i know nothing about soccer.

NBA 2K actually got me into basketball, I suck at them but they're still some the best sports games out there.

With a nickname like "The President of Basketball," I hope there's a scene where a rival says "Looks like you've been... impeached." Also looking forward to future counterparts like the Prime Minister of Baseball, the Kaiser of Soccer, and the Grand Poobah of Cricket.

That has to be the best virtual Alex I've ever seen.

What does it mean that you can "add teams to the league"? Does that just mean you can like add Real Madrid and the 80s Celtics to the current NBA?

Or can I add the Buffalo Braves and the Memphis Sounds into the 2016-17 season?

Am I crazy or does the character's skin color on his face not at all match his body skin color? People are saying it looks good but to me it looks laughable, like your character is wearing a rubber Alex Navarro mask

The PG battle between Alex Navarro and Damian Lillard was riveting. Alex was getting roasted but did come up with the clutch steal.

why can't they just come up with a normal name? They already have Navarro in there, so they have the systems in place to let the commentators sound out a lot of common names.

Also, are they really interviewing the coach during halftime in the NBA? Why would a coach want to spend his time telling the audience what his plans are for the 2nd half instead of being with his team? Interviewing before and after a game seems more reasonable to me.

One day, Vinny will choose the Warriors in the NBA2k quick look and he can live out his dream of bombing 3's. Steph Curry is Vinny's perfect player.

I want to see what the app does when it scans half of Alex's face, then they switch to Vinny for the other half.

I hope Gamespot have a Soccer guy, I rally want a look at The Journey in Fifa and a look at PES 17 as the gameplay is meant to be the best Football games have ever been.

There are user uploaded templates that you can download and even alter (everything from the Seatle Supersonics to the Kamehameha Super Saiyans), eight 2K-created templates, or you can insert the 86 Celtics and 01 76ers and so on, as well as any of the Euroleague teams.

If you are adding the templates, you're adding the stadium, uniforms and logos. They are expansion teams so they go through an expansion draft.

I haven't actually tested if you can add both expansion teams and historic/Euro teams to the league at the same time. From what I've messed with the season starting processes though they're exclusive to each other; the Euro and historic teams can be added through a custom league (where you could also start a fantasy draft if you like) whereas the expansion teams can only be added in the expansion mode (and there is no fantasy draft in that mode, though you can start before this past off season rather than at the start of the regular season).

So the players have 2 bars underneath their foot, one behind them (the shot meter) and one in front of them. What's that front bar doing? is it the stamina of the player?
