Forgot this was coming out. Let's see if they fixed the wonky controls.

I always wanted LBP to be the "Home" for playstation where the sack boy is your aviator.

Wow 40 minutes of two guys time and time explaining how disappointed they are about this game, how unexpected since it is a Playstation only game.
I on the other hand think it looks like fun.

This game looks useless. There was a time when LBP was a big thing, or hyped to be a big thing, but that time is long over.

Tis the season! Especially since the Wii U and XBone have had a decent chunk of well-regarded exclusive games lately.

Even before these guys played this they had the whole "been there done that" narrative set in their minds.

@ellrick: It's a third LBP game, made by a different team. It's hard not to form that narrative. I certainly feel that way about the game.

@ellrick: Well, it is the third game!

Probably gonna buy this game because of the lack of attractive options on the PS4, but it doesn't seem like they've done much with it compared to the last game (at least of things I care about!).

But they are so damn dour about the whole thing, Jeff especially has like the antithesis of the attitude this game exudes.

Plus, they certainly changed enough to warrant the '3' in the title, yet so many other companies (cough Nintendo cough) push out nearly identical games every generation and seem to get a more positive slant from the games press.

Mario Kart was a damn media darling earlier this year, and I cant think of a single thing it did different from the Wii version besides add some pixels.

so in short: whaaa

I mean, there is nothing on the market like these games, yet we are already chiding it for being too samey.

@ellrick: This game is getting rave reviews from a number of publications, same as the two previous games. The first LBP is one of the best reviewed games of all time (95 on Metacritic!). So I'd say that this game is still a media darling in many ways, with some exceptions (GB being one of them).

That's fair enough. The series has a huge (and a bit rabid) fanbase, there's a reason Sony keeps making them. But they're not for everyone, just like everything else.

The three people care about hardly seem raving about it.

"Raving" might be a bit too strong, there seems to be some fatigue. But still, generally strong reviews: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=934939

Anyways, scores are dumb. From reading reviews it looks like if you like LBP and don't mind that there's not that many changes to the formula, you're gonna love LBP 3.

I really like the platforming in these games. I don't really understand what the big problem is with the floaty controls, it fits the aesthetic and it's not like it is super demanding. I 100% all of the main levels of both games, collecting all the stuff and not dying in each level is actually quite challenging. I like Mario and Super Meat Boy too but they are a different kind of platformer.

"Zom Zom's"? Gary Numan fan on the team, I wonder? :P (I kind of hope it is indeed a reference, because DIY gas chambers and songs mentioning rape machines go together beautifully)

I really wish I can get past LBP's floaty jumping. It's like the one thing that made me put down the second game.

Having not played any LBP before (PS4 is my first PlayStation since the PS1) and the fact that my girlfriend has absolutely adored these games every time we've played one at Eurogamer Expo, and I think I'm gunna have a good time.

LBP games always looked super boring, but when you played them you realized that they were even more boring than that.

Also, Stephen Fry is annoying in these and that comes from a guy that loves him in almost everything else (QI for life).

LBP would be nice if 90% of the stuff made wasn't just garbage spouted out by 12 year olds.

I kinda wish that LBP Hub idea materialized instead of this, but I'll still probably pick this up in the future. I've got fond memories of the previous games.

I loved LBP 1 and 2 and will probably pick this up when it's a bit cheaper but I really wish they did something different with the franchise, it's a little too much of the same.

Damn it. Now I want to play this game. It looks like so much fun!

I don't really understand the sour attitude towards it but hey, that's sort of GB's gimmick, right? If they love something, then they LOVE it, if not then they write it off quickly and you never hear about it again. I didn't even know that Jeff liked the past LBP games, they never played or talked about them. I thought he hated them all.

Honestly, I had sort of written it off too but now... I kind of want it? That looks like a ton of fun and who couldn't use some more whimsy in their life? Damn, there goes another $80.

At about 7:15 the music has this synth bass line that sounds exactly like a section of Hemispheres by Rush. I'm now trying to look for said part in the song to smugly satisfy myself and I can't find it. It's driving me slightly crazy.

Wait, maybe it was Farewell to Kings...

Excuse me while I go and bang my head against a wall until I can't think anymore.

I would be much more excited about this game if they tightened up the platforming controls. As it is I just find the whole experience of playing the game so sleepy.

Otherwise I like the world, the humour and the creation aspect of it. But it just comes down to the sloppy controls. *sigh*

I haven't played it yet, but the early impressions have me a bit worried. I mean... it's still LBP, right? I play it for the user-created content. The game is only as good as that stuff will be. (Haven't watched the QL, I don't want to go into the game with negativity about it in my head. I'll watch in a few hours.)
