Nothing quite as hilarious as the "gun cocking sound from a guy just pointing a gun" thing carried out to this extreme.

I hope Drew does the right thing and rock the Young Snake face camo the rest of the game.

Fuck yeah, this entire feature has been building up to this one point.

I don't know what it says about Dan (or me) that I was extremely impressed by his intuitive grasp of the meaning of raison d'etre.

I really don't like Metal Gear Solid 4 in comparison to the rest of the games.

With that being said, this cutscene is fucking great.

I replayed all the MGS games earlier this year (to prep for TPP) and I remember the loading guns/army arrives scene to be waaaaaaaay longer. It is long but I exaggerated in my mind to be around 5 minutes of just that.

A liquid using finger guns is still fucking great. Wish Jeff's wish was true and Liquid just did that the rest of the game, would be stupid but hey, it's metal gear, there is stupid stuff.

I really wanted the monkey to pull the knife out.

Man what a good episode this was. Going down memory lane, not just seeing Shadow Moses again but you two reminiscing about the first Metal Gear Scanlon. Very nice.

So Raiden is essentially a Deus Exit Machina in this game?

Wow those scenes are way better now knowing everything I do about the series. A lot was lost on 17 year old me, having only played 3 before hand.

I would have loved to of scene Jeff's reactions to all this the first time he played it. I imagine a lot of "fucky ya's" and "sure why the fuck not"

I think it's funny Dan saying how elegantly Kojima puts in all these references to older games. I think Kojima crammed in as much as possible into as many places as possible with no reason. I think that's cool as shit in some ways, but to say he did it elegantly. .come on.

This game is amazing. Finger gun turret Liquid is the best.

No game has been able to match the spectacle of MGS4's cutscenes to date. And they are all done in real time which is fucking amazing. Hopefully MGS5 can live up to this.

Something I realized while watching the first cutscene here that I don't think I realized before...couldn't Johnny have killed Ocelot there, since he doesn't have the nanomachines stopping him from firing his gun?

@drewbert That's not a G36, it's an XM8: in the 00's we thought it was the futuristic weapon soldiers were going to use.

Anyone else think Drew could pull off a convincing Johnny Sasaki cosplay? Make it happen, Internet!

I rewatched MGScanlon 3 before the Big Mama Patriot's reveal, and then MGScalon 1 (up to part 5) before this episode. Despite not knowing the plot for 4, I'd say I timed that pretty well :p

I like how some of the dudes with assault rifles lay prone on the bridge but the sniper rifle guys don't.

I've been looking forward to Act IV; the first time I got chills. I think that the Metal Gear series is the best candidate for the contentious "are video games art?" question. Every medium is judged on its strengths, and Metal Gear embraces its interactivity and history in a way a) no other medium can, and b) no other video game attempts to.

@ch3burashka: Are you fucking kidding me? I mean I love MGS but it's just a male power fantasy however well crafted it may be.

It also have many many severe flaws from both gameplay and narrative perspectives. And embrace its interactivity? The game is 50% god damn cut scenes.

I guess it's time for the annual realisation that "The Best Is Yet To Come" is in Irish, and I can understand the lyrics XD
