I'm not sure how useful blurring out the game in the thumbnail is when the game's title is tagged to the right of the video

Really enjoyed this, I wonder if the arcade machine scores would have survived a power cut. Also who Danny will interview next...

Oh boy, I played a lot of Rush 2 and 2049 on N64 in elementary school. Myself, my brother and some friends spent hours trying to best each other's scores in stunt mode. The anxiety you get from trying to flip your car 56 times in the air and have it land without exploding was very palpable for me at 12 years old. Great work as always Danny!

I played the absolute HELL out of the N64 version of this as a kid. Most tracks had a "full shortcut" line that had you off the main track for 90% plus of the run. The stunt mode was also impressively deep with a whole bunch of crazy tracks to unlock. It was one of those games that was so bland on the surface but was actually crazy deep underneath. It just did a terrible terrible job of showing what was good about itself.

I liked this one a lot more than the last one, the last one was good but it really helped that Rorie had a really good story as to why he liked this game so much.

no idea what i expected from rorie but i'll admit it definitely wasn't a old arcade machine racing game. thats cool. i feel like racing games are always a time and place sort of thing. i don't love them but i've definitely loved them in the right circumstances. i think they're also harder to show without actively playing them too. either way good job danny once again.

I also had to comment on the Didn't It Rain vinyl. I actually managed to get Molina to autograph my copy before he passed away.

Nice video! I've never played this one, but Rush 2 on the N64 was my jam back then - specially the Stunt level.

The arcade game you play during college is also very relatable. I have fond memories of King of Fighters 2004 (bootleg version of 2003) specifically because I always played it in my first year.

I'm loving this series! It's a great trip, and a really skillful blend between the personality strength of GB and the standalone polish that's become signature for @dannyodwyer.

For the future, I'd love to see Ben Pack if he's down! Ben's wonderful from the jump, and I just know he has some great hidden gems.

Shame about the time constraint, at least for the N64 version this game was all about stunt mode and mastering shortcut runs. Honestly, it wasn't that far off from Burnout Paradise in terms of level construction, just chopped up into discreet tracks. Would've been nice to see a little of that.

That said, the stunt track itself in 2049 was kind of weak compared to Rush 2 (and, honestly, original Rush), which was practically a Tony Hawk level. And the cars had some actual durability to them so it was fun to watch the deformation take hold of the frame. Life didn't get much better than split screen stunting at 10 FPS back then!

Oh dang, knew that boxart immediately! Good choice, Rorie

This series was 100% something I played with my brother only. Tried playing the games once or twice solo when we would rent them, but it was so... empty feeling. Playing with my brother, we would try to find shortcuts, crash through all the glass, and spend hours in the stunt zone trying to see who could explode in the most amusing way.

Rorie's reset trick is hilarious. I remember abusing that in the first game a lot.

The one thing 2049 was lacking was the ridiculous score entry music in the original

Danny, great work on this episode. The flow seemed more natural in this one, and it is obvious you and Rorie both went to a lot of trouble to track down these versions.

This was great - circumstances leading to more time with the guest than Danny playing the game on his own worked out for the best and I think maintaining that ratio of camera time would be be ideal going forward.

Thanks Danny & Rorie! I really enjoyed the episode, shame you couldn't find the arcade cabinet.

At first I thought the game would obviously be Metal Gear Acid 2 & upon seeing the title of the video it hit me, I should've known! It's one of the few Rorie-games, it hasn't been brought up a lot in conversations since Drew's departure, but the game's a big part in the Rorie Pantheon.

When I was in college my fraternity house somehow ended up with a Dreamcast demo disc with the Rush 2049 stunt mode on it. And we played the SHIT out of that until someone scratched the disc either by accident or possibly because they were sick of seeing it played.

Yup, Guilty Treasures is the best new show on Giant Bomb. Glad Danny explained why the episodes take about a month to make. I can respect that. Though, I tried one of the Rush games on N64, I could never get into them. I don't even remember what version of that game was.
