Gears of War 2 onwards bored me, I had my fill with 1 and by the time Gears 2 came out the third person cover based shooter seemed milked to death. I never got on with hoard mode, after a few waves it's just the same old and the A.I just bored me, taking cover and shooting is just really boring after awhile, I got my fill of it with the campaign, I never even bothered to touch the competitive beyond the first either.

Gears of War 4 bored me to tears, instead of doing something new they just went back to the well, they told a story that just didn't need to exist, there was no tension, I felt no need to care for anything as it's pretty obvious what the outcome would be. At least telling a new story would have left a lot of doors open for doing something new and to get you invested in good characters that had some depth to them. I also expected new gameplay, but it just felt like a 10 year old game... the same old recycled mechanics, where's the innovation? The same pond that Halo lives, everything after 3 just doesn't need to exist, none of it is any good and sales show that, people are bored of it, I bet Gears sales are down as well.

In fact Microsoft do something new, stop giving us the same Halo, Gears and Forza each year. Even Forza is tired, Turn 10 fails each Forza to give Sim fans what they want, I mean we still have no FoV options, we still have no good online structure like iRacing has, we have no proper Single Player or progression. The Single Player consists of doing the same 2-4 lap races over and over again in a different car. There is no qualifying, no competitive aspect that Project Cars at the very least had with starting in Karts and building yourself up, there is no tyre wear or fur; simulation, no pit stops..... Forza is crap and if you post anything negative on their moderated forums, it doesn't even make it past them to show up... it's bizarre and Turn 10 will never make a Sim of any worth because of it.

Halo 5 did great changes to the control setup and has had amazing post launch support. The Motorsport series might be a little stale in areas but Horizon 3 is one of the best games of the year. As far as gears go, 4 was great if you like that type of game (thankfully I do). To each his own, but more first party games is never a bad thing. Looking forward to Crackdown 3 and Scalebound next year.

Oh I was hoping this would be them continuing GB East's Coop Campaign.

@nagafen: Most people I know play/stick with Gears and Halo because of the competitive multiplayer. Frankly there's nothing quite like either of those game in terms of their mechanics, hence why those multiplayer communities still exist over a decade later and have survived without dev support at several points in their histories. The problem of player counts dwindling has almost always arisen out of the developer attempting something new that breaks the existing sandbox or pillars of gameplay and upsets the existing fans who have kept the game afloat. If you don't think it should exist, then don't play it. Plenty of people do.

@mmarsu: different strokes for different folks! me i personally don't have that much fun dying 100 times in a row (at least initially). but i'n not that good at games in general anyway so...

e: i also assume people will get irrationally pissed off at their lack of git-gud-ness on higher difficulty so i think it's a wise choice all around.

SPOILER: The last two hours are them dying 100 times in a row on the final wave. Turns out casual wasn't that fun or easy.

There is so much great stuff coming out from GB these days but I don't think this one is for me. I have never really found it that entertaining to watch Gears horde mode being played by others. I might just save this one for a rainy day and leave it on in the background while I do other stuff.

Tomorrows videos seem more fun and interesting to me.

Like a few others in the comments, Horde never seemed all that interesting to me. I mentioned in the past how it's weird that they seem to enjoy Horde a whole lot but absolutely hate Call of Duty Zombies which in my opinion has a little more going for it with the building and unlocking metagame.

Still sorta fun to play in the background for the commentary and glancing at the screen once in a while. I'll take them playing Horde mode over Mario Maker any day of the week.

Really enjoy how you are mixing it up and choosing different games each day. Also really enjoy you guys just hanging out and playing games together.

@humanity: Zombies in Call of Duty quickly becomes running around in a circle with a train of zombies behind you until the end of time, while in Gears horde you kinda need to hold down a position for a set amount of rounds. That kinda makes horde (and stuff like Mass Effect 3 multiplayer) more interesting for me.

That being said... I think horde is crossplatform, but are people actually playing it so I can just play games with randoms? I should/will probably be getting Gears4 for PC soonish, but kinda don't want it for just the singleplayer.

@gundogan: The leashing of enemies does serve a purpose and is something to do while your teammates are doing other things. I dunno, I haven't really played much of Zombies but I do think it looks more interesting.

I played Gears 4 on PC having bought it on the Windows store and ehhh it was kinnnnda O-K finding matches but not as quick as I would like. Also there is no cross-platform play for ranked stuff, which is what people mostly want to play.

Because Vinny mentioned it, I'm here to say that The Abyss is a bad movie.

EDIT: Why is the entire thing only on Jeff Cam? Was kind of expecting it to switch so we could see the other guys playing..

The lvl 50 difficulty spike seems ridiculous.

As for "last time"... Last time they had a ringer who was playing with a mouse and keyboard and could reach out and quickly take out enemies before they got too close. Maybe Brad was doing the right thing at the end by running the map, but if he couldn't take out enemies at range, moving out there wasn't as useful for the team as it could have been.

I dunno. I'd love to try it, but the complete version is like $100 on the Windows Store. LOL. #neverhappening

@dovah: Yeah, I know right? Thats what the christmas spirit is all about, hanging out with the folks you love and have a good ol time <3!

I think these gameplay videos are even better than those joke ones they done last year. They've outdone themselves. Regular Podcasts, UPF, GOTY Podcasts and these kind of streams are one hell of a scedule even if considering they had 2 weeks time.

I am sure its a lot more work. But for these Gears horde mode streams I really wish we could have a changing player perspective thing. I would love to watch Brad, Vinny, Jason, and Dan play the game also. Thanks for the gameplay dudes.

@magmamud: On the one hand, yeah, it would be cool to see other views, but on the other hand that means four hours of Drew sitting in the control room monitoring five different feeds and switching between cameras.

I have a little criticism of this video. There needs to be a little more personality in videos like these. That or some sort of discussion. It's not really that fun to watch. No one is really talking much and watching someone play Gears 4 for 40 minutes let alone 4 hours is a little dry. It was probably by miles more fun for all of you to sit down and play than all of us watch you.

The hitman stuff was great because it was full of personality, talking, ideas, etc. This is just watching you guys shoot stuff. More stuff like the Hitman video in concept and less this please.

I bought Gears 4 and Forza Horizon 3 while they were on sale last week. I never turn my Xbone on...wouldn't get turned on at all if my 1 year old daughter couldn't turn it on so easily. That said, I figured I'd give the system a chance again (since its trade in value is lower than a 3DS and no one wants to buy one secondhand) and I have to say...Forza Horizon 3 is another great one of those and Gears of War 4 is another OK one of those. There's really nothing else to say other than the Horde mode relying on the card pack unlocks is freaking stupid and is nearly as bad as that new mode in Halo 5.

@gundogan: People are always on Horde and it always takes about 5 seconds to get into a game. Obviously there's a lot of quitting with how long it goes. The mode could use a shorter version or join-in-progress.

I play a ton of horde and this is both the most frustrating and enjoyable video I've ever watched! Thanks Guys. Happy Holidays.

Maybe its just because I enjoy watching gears enough so I don't mind it, but I get what you're saying except i'd take everything you said above and apply it to anytime that Overcooked is played.

And the only things you can see are the hideous gun skins because it's so dark.

I know they wanted to finish but I think they messed up by starting over from Wave 50. Losing all your fortifications and starting over with a level 1 fabricator is really rough.

Also they could have really used some more manned turrets/sentries. Having played a fair amount of Horde 3.0, you really need multiple turrets and sentries or else you're gonna get overwhelmed like they did.

Now I like using the turrets so it doesn't bother me as much but I do think it would have been nice if the game was better balanced so they didn't feel so necessary (I imagine the cards make balancing this mode a lot more difficult than previous games).
