Everyone loved free to play when it started - I was one of the few feels like who was um no this is terrible. The death of monthly fees for MMO's is going to lead to design that emphasizes buying from the store and not fun and terrible games, but they will be able to use psychology to make people buy it anyway and make tons of money. Low and behold see what happened? We as gamers need to kill this now. NO ONE should play free to play games I don't care how good they are so we can kill this method of game design. It is terrible, evil, and leads to terrible games. Multiple MMO's have died because of this LOTRO and SWTOR being two great examples. This type of game design needs to die now.

@pompouspizza: Before you bang that 'Add To Cart' button, I should add I haven't played Nioh. Just from the footage I've seen it makes me think of what an Onimusha game would look like in 2017.

I tried Heroes. It's like playing a neutered Fire Emblem, and it hurts to hear Drew praising it when I know that something so objectively better exists. I'll wait for Shadows of Valencia.

This video player is worse than the last, holy crap, I haven't been able to watch a single video without any interruptions so I don;t watch any of the premium stuff anymore. My subscription is waste then.

@anticol I have the same problem with the player being interrupted during playback on Firefox. But I don't have the same problem with Microsoft Edge. Try a different browser if it resolves your problem

Why do Dark Souls type games have to be all dark and horror themed, I wouldn't mind a game like Nioh Kuni.

As someone who was following it closely, yeah. I fully expected tepid reviews even after loving the last trial. There was so much about it that could've gone wrong, especially after glimpses of several weak enemy designs and environments, and the team's history of dodgy storytelling. It was a huge relief to see it review so positively, because it's something that I want to love.

I know we still get a lot of Dan but I kind of miss him being around the guys. Really has changed the mood of the Bombcast.

The only golf game I've ever actually liked is Kirby Dream Course. I've never seen the appeal of other golf games, they're so... boring? They always show you where the ball is going to land, which kind of, I don't know, kills most of the point of golf? At least with Kirby Dream Course you've got all kinds of crazy fun obstacles, power-ups, an awesome simultaneous (turn-based, but on the same course) competitive mode, little tricks to help move the ball around after shooting, etc.

It was painfully obvious throughout the first hour of the show, that Brad had played no video games, had nothing of substance to contribute, only said "Yeah" or "Hmmm", and couldn't wait to move onto the News section.

Video games love you, Brad. You have to love the games back.

To repeat what I said on the other link to this podcast - we all need to band together to get rid of the free to play model. These type of games are addictive drugs and evil. They have killed the MMO model because the game design is now focused on making people buy things from the store rather than actual good gameplay. LOTRO is a perfect example of a good mmo that was killed by free to play. These type of games are a cancer in the gaming community. They need to be removed and the only way that will happen is if we all stop playing them and giving them money.

Thank you for keeping the games music to until we stopped talking about these terrible things - I will not call them games.

Drew's "metal gear had parries?" was also hilarious. It would be cool to see Jeff go through that game on hard using the parry system and showing it to Drew and how deep it really is.

It's fascinating how different the Beastcast and the Bombcast interpreted the Zenimax VS Occulus trial. Beast seemed to fall more on the Zenimax side whereas Bomb seemed to favor Occulus as the ones seemingly more in the right.

Whoa, Jeff has a Tap Titans 2 clan? I can't describe why I like these games, but I do.

During the whole of this broadcast I sat staring at my PS 4 daring to turn it on and purchase Nioh. No, not today gaming gods $60 is just far too much for me maybe when it gets cheaper which will probably be never with the way PSN does updates. I'm on disability and never have enough money for things like this. It looks very very cool and hearing Jeff talk about it makes it even seem even cooler. I hope the people playing it are having fun because we've needed a "fun" dark souls for a long time since I didn't think 2 or 3 or even bloodborne matched the original.

Good to hear Nioh has turned out all right. Ordered my copy yesterday after watching a lot of gameplay. Looks like Onimusha at hyper speed.

But yeah, some of the big points of contention in the trial are sealed court documents and not viewable by the press or public. We can't directly see some of the evidence/reports that were key to the outcome of the trial, so a lot of it comes down to which side's perspective you are willing to believe at this point.

There's a lot of number craft that goes in to simulation role-playing games, so I think it's okay that there are lighter experiences for different levels of commitment.

Microsoft actually developed more games in-house back then than they do now. (I'm referring to when they were working on the original Xbox release.)

@eribuster: But Fire Emblem doesn't require commitment. You can play through it in short sections if you want, none of the maps are actually that long and they all have a suspend feature. All the games also have multiple levels of difficulty, and in the recent one there's not even perma-death if you don't want it. There is literally nothing that Fire Emblem Heroes does that every other Fire Emblem game has not done significantly better except make money for Nintendo and sell sexy jpg's.
