Brad's takes continue to be bad.

Game looks incredible, braindance does seem fairly linear and not as new in execution as they think but if it's optional world building I can't complain

I 100% everything on PS4. Loved all of it. Blood and Wine was my favorite DLC in any game.

RE: Their discussion on player choices. My issue with the way Deus Ex does these is always that the gameplay result is so divorced from the lore result. There's quests that present a choice to you as a moral decision, but in the end it's just different rewards. Like, I killed this guy rather than help him find his sister's killer, because I wanted the tranquilizer gun instead of the stun gun. The game often won't straight up tell you what the differing rewards are for your choices, but that just obfuscates details I feel like I need to know so I look it up online. It makes the lore result very degraded when I feel like the path I choose needs to be based on the gameplay result.

I’m not super hopeful for this game to tackle the whole cyberpunk-thing in a meaningful or interesting way. Maybe I’ll be surprised, but it all seems so toothless.

@aires: I dunno, I felt they did a reasonably good job in TW3 of presenting a pretty brutal incarnation of the classical fantasy setting, and spent a lot of time presenting the misery and suffering of common people. Stuff like that is pretty unlikely to come across in pre-release marketing and they've got a track record, so I'm cautiously optimistic.

The Braindance is a new mechanic that you could use exactly like all the investigation stuff from Witcher 3 and if you played that it isn't surprising and you can imagine how they'd use it. I thought Vinny would bring that up.

All that was great by the way. I do not get the bad reaction to it.

@aires: I wouldn't doubt CDPR until they put out a bad game. They've done great with that stuff before.

This was a really lackluster attempt they should have waited a few night wires in to show brain dance because people were hyped for night wire and this was a wet thud for future showings. Brain dance also being described as "going on too long" in an ign preview makes me go yeah that is what I figured with a mechanic like that. I just wanna do a brain dance on enemies with a shotgun, can we keep this game more about the combat and less about the ugh, story.

Bit of a lacklustre stream given how long people have had to look forward to it. This should have been an ’announce a few day before’ type video. Fingers crossed the next few videos show a lot more of the moment to moment gameplay.

That said I have no doubt the game will be an incredible swan song to the current generation, and introduction to the next ten. I don’t know if and when I will have time to play it properly with a baby due around the same time though.

I mean, I can think of a ton of ways that brain dance could be a cool mechanic, but maybe don't have your reveal of it be the literal tutorial for using it? It feels like it needed to be included as part of a presentation that included a larger quest, to show it off in more context.

I could see them using that Brain Dance stuff like you used Witcher vision in Witcher 3. Like you come across a chip in the world that starts a quest and you have to figure out who the killer/abuser/thief is.

What didn't you like its going to be the same as the Witcher 3 a bunch of free DlC then two large paid expansions.

That Brain Dance portion of the presentation killed the momentum dead for me, especially since it seemed like a sluggish rehash of Tacoma. Showing the tutorial was a strange choice.

I got to say, if the title of the game was Deus Ex 3 instead of Cyberpunk 2077 I would believe it. With that said, I like the modern Deus Ex games so I'm still interested. And this is CDPR, they might end up out doing Deus Ex in the end.

@djredbat: Just curious, what about their DLC plans made you cancel your pre-order? It seems it will be the same as the Witcher 3, which I thought was great.

Expansions coming out later, prolonging the life span of the game and giving you so much more. Blood and wine is just fantastic, so if we'll get something like it in a year or two that would be awesome.

@fetchfox: I didn't cancel my preorder I was asking @chummy8: why he or she said they canceled. I totally agree that it makes no sense to be upset with there dlc plans they even said there will be more content then the Witcher 3.

To answer both of you, I canceled my preorder because I usually wait to get a single GOTY package (and pay less) of the game plus DLCs. I did the same with The Witcher 3 and spent 150 hours in it with no regrets. Of course that meant I waited a year or 2 before actually playing the game but that's the only drawback. And who knows? I might still get it at release if the Hypetrain hits me hard enough. Cyberpunk 2077 is the holy grail wish game for me. Hell just look at my avatar or my arm.

My only fear is the same as Vinny's at this point. The hype behind this game seems a little too high and I wonder if it could live up to its own ambition. That's also another reason why I decided to hold off my preorder for now.

It was a little underwhelming to see this mechanic be a simple, non-intrusive, detective vision where you scrub footage back and forth for clues. Ages ago The game Remember Me did “memory remixing” that allowed you to view a memory of an individual with video-like controls and then change certain parts of it, altering what that person actually perceived. This had profound implications and in the case of one character completely changes their allegiance based on a lie you implant in their brain.

The moral dilemma of altering memories of living people alone was a lot more interesting than simply reviewing a recorded set of events that the Brain Dancing appears to be, but I assume it’s vaguely modeled after the Blade Runner detective vision machine.

@chummy8: I definitely see waiting for the GOTY version. I haven't pre-ordered, but I think I will get it around release date if it's as good as it looks. I did the same with Witcher 3, I loved coming back to it and playing the expansions over time.

As someone that likes point & click adventure games and Blade Runner, all those detective tools in games are totally fine with me. Actually quite a smart way to open up the writing possibilities and put the player in a bunch of different situations, when that doesn't necessarily makes sense for V to experience themselves. Without a mechanism like this, you only really get close with the people that are somewhat related to your quests. Now any topic could come up.

Do agree that they should have found a better way to quickly make people care about the feature. Like you probably don't need to be told that items that get highlighted can be scanned , and that you can fast forward and fast rewind. Also it was hard to care about this 'mystery' about who killed the thug, when his thug friend was clearly the nr 1 candidate to be the perpetrator. They did a better way revealing the multiple ways a quest can change earlier on in the reveal schedule for this game.

Just so Vinny knows, some people find "people of colour" offensive, at least in the UK.

boy am i glad i managed to narrowly slap a 2080ti into my machine literally for the RTX in this game; the card I had and sold for it would have sufficed for most of everything else, but the RTX and framerate boost alternately is something I am very happy to have been fortunate enough to make happen before Cyberpunk/new consoles. Excited, November feels a very, very long time away though.

I'm still pretty excited about this but one of my concerns remains how potentially stereotypical it'll be about portraying characters -specifically in my case, brown characters. Spanish mixed with English almost always comes off as forced to me. Also, I know absolutely no one that uses the term 'cojones' aside from mocking Scarface.

At this point I'm pretty sure the retro neon 90s aesthetic has been around longer then the original 90s neon aesthetic.
