Overview
Shouzou Kaga is a former employee of Intelligent Systems and the creator of the Fire Emblem franchise. He left the studio following the release of Fire Emblem: Thracia 776 to found the independent studio Tirnanog.
Tear Ring Saga and Legal Issues
Kaga's first game at Tirnanog, TearRing Saga, came under heavy fire from Nintendo, who filed claims of copyright infringement against Tirnanog and the game's publisher, Enterbrain, for being too similar to the Fire Emblem series. Nintendo won on appeal, but the game was allowed to remain on shelves. Kaga eventually produced a sequel to the original game entitled Tear Ring Saga: Berwick Saga. After the poor sales the series was discontinued and the development studio as a result liquidated.
Vestaria Saga I
After ten years, in 2015, he announced his comeback. He is developing an indie game that will be funded via a kickstarter-like platform. The game was released in 2016 and is called Vestaria Saga I. Because of the positive feedback, Kaga announced in 2017 that he is eventually working on an English localization of the game.
