A common character class / archetype in role-playing games and fantasy. They are often less chivalric than your average Knight-errant, generally being depicted as either archetypal villains (such as a Dark Lord), or troubled and ruthless anti-heroes.
In many RPGs, especially those made in Japan, magic is categorized as black or white. Black magic spells deal damage or inflict negative effects.
Bosses are enemies that fight you at the end of a level or at a significant point in the story.
A boss fight is a culminating challenge that pits the player against one or more enemies representing a greater threat and/or difficulty than those previously faced. These scenarios typically feature unique antagonists.
Whether it's a hero's turn to the dark side or a villain becoming a hero, it's usually unexpected and will bring a whole new moral dimension to the story. Sometimes, they change they sides more than once.
The act of a noble, just, or otherwise good or heroic figure becoming evil through either external manipulation or an internal shift in beliefs or desires.
Darkness is used in games to restrict access, increase tension, or just to set a mood. Often the player has access to a light source that can mitigate its effect.
Demons are generally creatures of evil, usually from Hell, who are often totally untrustworthy even when they're not murdering everyone and destroying everything in their path.
Generally used to fool other characters or parties into thinking you're one of them or belong there for purposes of deception, spying, or accessing data.
The last boss you face in a game, usually representing the final climax of the game.
In games, fire can be an obstacle, a tool, a weapon, or a solution. Just don't play with it...unless you really want to.
Games based on literature. This does not include licenses of another adaptation.
Whenever there's a new Pixar, superhero or Harry Potter movie they have to make one of these.
A characteristic present in game characters with a superior state of mind reflected in how they solve problems and their way of approaching situations.
Whether it be Mario vs. Bowser, Jedi vs. Sith, Link vs. Ganon, or Elves vs. Orcs, the forces of good are in an eternal battle with the hordes of evil.
Henchmen are the loyal grunts caught in between the player and the main antagonist. Without them every game would be nothing more than a boss battle.
This concept involves a character of the hero archetype that at some point in the storyline, turns against the forces of good and becomes evil or is revealed to have done this in secret at some point in the past.
Whether a character never ages or is invincible, immortality represents the inability to die. Sometimes this is a blessing, sometimes it is a curse. Either way it usually makes for an interesting game mechanic.
The small models within the Lego franchise which represent people. They appear almost in every Lego game.
These games are based off of established licenses, such as movies, comics, or TV shows. Examples are the James Bond 007 and Spider-Man franchises.
Characters or species of living eyes, often giant.
The concept of affecting the universe through supernatural methods, breaking the fundamental laws of science.
Games that feature an antagonist--someone who opposes the game's protagonist--that is a man.
Misanthropy is the hatred and fear of human beings and humanity in general.
Some people just have to have all the power.
A narcissist is a person that is obsessed with one's own looks or who has an egomaniacal sense of self-importance.
Sauron's most terrible servants. The Nine were once mortal men who one by one succumbed to the power of the One Ring.
Necromancers are spell casters who specializes in conjuring and controlling the undead.
Magic or divination involving the dead and departed. One that practices necromancy is generally referred to as a necromancer.
Nihilism is a philosophy that life is meaningless.
