A group of musicians that perform together.
Typically found in fighting games, combos are a series of strung-together moves.
Concerts are live performances before audiences, and have been culturally relevant for thousands of years. Their uses in games range from mere plot devices to entire design philosophies.
Cooperative play in games allows humans to play together as a team to accomplish a task. Instead of playing against a human opponent, the team must defeat an AI. Cooperative Play in some games also means 2 human versus 2 human, this occurs in some Billiards games. (Scotch Doubles / Doubles)
As seen in the Rock Band franchise, a drum fill is a section of the drum chart of the song taken out and replaced by a fill section.
The highest rating in the scoring system for the Rock Band and Guitar Hero franchises.
A concept primarily found in music/rhythm games. Commonly abbreviated to FC, a Full Combo is achieved by hitting 100% of the notes without breaking the combo multiplier.
An interesting revelation. While some games will only accept a START button press, many other games aren't as strict.
Hammer Ons and Pull Offs (often shorthanded as HO/POs) are Guitar Hero/Rock Band notes that you can play without strumming. They always follow at least one note you do have to strum, then you can continue playing just by pressing the fret buttons.
Health is a value that gauges how much damage players can take in a game before they die or pass out. Also known as life in some games. Health is usually represented by a bar or a percentage instead of an exact amount. Found in most non sport games

In many games there is a ranking system, the players with the highest point value are listed in a "high score" table.

A metalhead is a heavy metal fanatic.
A music video is a film that comes with a song. It can be a combination of the music artists performing and/or actors playing scenes and/or other elements. Many games come with a music video related to the game.

From the Rock Band franchise, overdrive is basically the same thing as star power in Guitar Hero. The main differences are that the overdrive notes are glowing and not star shaped and that more overdrive energy may be gained while actually in overdrive.
The use of peripherals has vastly changed the way games are played. This concept includes an array of items, including joysticks, plastic guitars & drum-sets, and specialized printers.
These are awards given to players at the end of a multiplayer match, and may or may not have any gameplay consequence. Most common to first-person shooters, examples of these awards include "most accurate", "most teammates healed", "most damage taken", etc.
Ranking Systems tally the player's current progress and relative skill, by tracking raw numbers of multiple statistics (like score and time) during a session of gameplay. This results in a competitive meta-game where the goal is usually to reach the top position.
Sometimes a game is so great that the developer has to go back after the game's release to add achievements.
A widely popular music style, originating from a fusion of blues, R&B, country, and jazz. Includes sub-genres such as punk, heavy metal, synth rock, and pop rock, among others.
Multipliers award players for playing well continuously. Racking up multipliers is crucial in any point based game in which they are featured.
Advanced technique used to maximize the amount of points earned in Guitar Hero and Rock Band. A necessary skill to achieving high scores.
Star Power doubles your current score modifier. Activate it by tilting your guitar up or hitting the select button.
Sometimes a co-op game allows the various players to choose their own individual difficulty levels. This is typically implemented by higher difficulty levels causing that player to be able to deal damage less easily and to also receive more damage from enemies.
