Overview
Raita Honjou (本庄雷太) is a Japanese doujin artist that has been self publishing manga and other material since the late 1990s under the alias RAITA as well as under his circle name, Zettai Shoujo (Absolute Girl). Many of his works are pornographic featuring his own original characters and stories, most notably his long running and still ongoing series called Zettai Junpaku Mahou Shoujo. Several of his doujinshi are also based off other franchises including Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, Fate/stay night, My-HiME, Azumanga Daioh and others.
Professionally, Raita is most well known for his design work on Valkyria Chronicles where he drafted the character designs for every mainline entry in the franchise as well as help created the series' world and mechanical designs. Outside of Sega's series, Raita is known in the game industry for designing several characters for the Fate/Grand Order mobile game including Minamoto no Raikou, Sakata Kintoki, James Moriarty and Shuten-douji. Katawa Shoujo was also famously based off a page from one of Raita's doujins, specifically "Schuppen harnische" from 2000, where he outlined the idea and characters that would inspire the popular freeware visual novel.
According to Raita Honjou's personal website, some of Raita's favorite video games are Final Fantasy Tactics, Final Fantasy XI, Panzer Front, ICO, Klonoa and Medal of Honor among many others. Some of the artists that have inspired Raita's style also include Hayao Miyazaki, Masamune Shirow, Kazuhisa Kondo and Makoto Kobayashi.
