Pulled punches and spun wheels
Got the look of Unpacking. Very nice pixelated graphics. The music is the same and on heavy rotation. I think i’ll be able to pick the song out of a police lineup for the rest of my life, though i can’t conjure it up right now, even more reason to stop playing the game.
Food is the driving force of this game. If you run out of that the game is over. There are only so many ways to acquire food, through purchases. An option to grow food would be nice. I had to restart the game because I ran out of food and money. There was an ugly grind due to lack of money and food and the margins are so razor thin that the game really doesn’t allow me to advance in the story. I wonder if this was microtransaction-laden on iOS.
There is a steroid component of the game that I chose not to interact with. I think games can send the wrong message. Like playing PUBG with the Ukraine situation is somewhat insensitive yet you’ll find dozens of people doing the same thing right now. Having a game with a steroid option (whether that comes with obvious in game negative side effects) still strikes me as promoting drugs. Unless the in-game options are always negative a pro drug slant despite the context is still not right.
This would have been a classic iOS purchase that I might have bought at probably around $0.99 like Sword and Sworcery or 80 days. I had forgotten about his game until i saw it on sale on the e-shop. Restarting (with no choice) let me advance the story of the game. The dialogue advances without my involvement which sucks because simulation games allow me to sit around and do other things. Simulations make me question the agency I even have in real games with so much going on in the background. There are cameos from Jules and Verne (Pulp Fiction), Teenage Mutant Ninja,Turtles and Tyler Durden from Fight Club.
We never get storylines from sport games. This game does have a storyline but it is so hard to get to it that i can’t recommend this game. Play Fifa 2017 or Fifa 2018 instead.
