PUBG: Battlegrounds
Game » consists of 3 releases. Released Mar 23, 2017
A survival-shooter led by the modder behind the Battle Royale mods for the ArmA series. It is one of the progenitors of the "battle royale" sub-genre, pitting 100 players in a large empty location where they must scavenge for weapons and fight to the death.
Post a screenshot of your best run (so far)
Is it really that hard to be #1? I feel like most serious boss fights are way harder, but you naturally beat them sooner because you can instantly retry, and most battles last like five or ten minutes this game needs like 35 minutes to the final circle. Feel like I'll eventually get it by lucking into a good circle indoors rather having to run into a field filled with people already there.
I came in first by driving over the last remaining player. This was my first (and only) solo match. I've played 4 squad matches and won one so far.
I'm way more impressed by the people that get quite a few kills and end up high rather than the ones that make it to 1 and never see more than a firefight. But thats just me.
Best I've done in terms of placement, but I've had better runs where I've killed more players.
Duo:
You got first place after only killing one person? Prettttty sneaky.
@yates: Pure chance and sneakiness...
I don't have a Screenshot, but my highest was #9. I didn't really see anyone in that game until some dude shot me.
@oldmanlight: Damn dude, nice k/d

Yeah I find the luck of the circle can play a large factor as it's the difference between forcing you to move or allowing you to stay put with a shotgun in a house.
I picked up the game this weekend and tasted chicken dinner on my 5th run. Surprisingly, Murder Island makes for a pretty good crash course; I feel like I would've done a lot worse if I hadn't watch the guys fumble around for a few hours.
I sadly don't have a screenshot, but I'd like to share what happened the first time I played solo; I got #2.
It's not as impressive as it sounds. I landed near a cabin far away from population centers, found some supplies (including an SKS rifle, a shotgun, some meds, etc.) and ran into the woods. I was near enough to the circle that I could just hide in the woods. I moved from place to place occasionally, but basically just hid. Eventually the circle closed enough (and the number of people got low enough) that I was in the top 10. Then the top 5. Then there was only me and one other player in the game. I saw him, he saw me. As I was lining up my shot, he headshotted me (I hadn't found a helmet), and I got 2nd place. I haven't gotten that high since on a single player game...
...but one day, I shall get my chicken dinner...
You people with your nine kills, your eleven kills. Half an hour ago I just hit my record for kills...with 4. I legit don't know how you guys do it. Even when I'm actively looking for people, by the time I'm geared up and ready to roll there's 50 people left and I might see three or four before we're down to Murder In A Phonebooth.
Haven't hit Numero Uno yet, the chicken still eludes me, but it's a rare game where I'm not top-30 and lately I've been getting to top-10 a bunch.
@lanechanger: thanks, i agree about the circle RNG and shotgun camping houses strat. It gets me far.
Got the game today. Got a chicken dinner on my 4th match. A few others have been top 10. My chicken dinner was a little anticlimactic though, the last two dudes died due to being outside the zone and I never even saw them.
This was a silly silly round that found us driving from near the school, up to north georgepol with zero resistance. At the very end we did see another group and opened fire only for them to get murdered by the last dude apart from us. He...he didn't make it. I'm calling it militant pacifism. Neither of us had any kills. And we only saw 3 other players the entire time.

YESSS!!! AFTER 21 GAMES, HERE WE IS!!
(oh man my heart was pounding was too fast towards the end and I felt like vomiting for a few minutes after this win, video games are the greatest)
I've gotten first three times by now. This here was my first time, and boy, oh-boy; did it ever leave an impression.
I finished 8th. i hid most of this round, and only shot one fella.
No more 8th place for you my friend. Chicken dinners as far as the eyes can see. (With @upperdecker and Casey)
@fatalbanana: without a doubt that was so much fun. And now we get to say..........."WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER!!!!!!!!"
After making it to team #2 like five or six times and blowing it, including a four man squad vs. one guy advantage, finally got chicken dinner.
Match began with a solo dude landing right in front of me and me pistolling him as he jumped off the roof. It was like the Russian dude from The Sopranos, he left and I never saw him again, but I CTR-walked scared to death expecting him for the first fifteen minutes.
Then one of my teammates disconnected and I shoulda known the other two were badasses when instead of leaving him to the blue hole, they killed him and looted his shit.
I always trailed behind them because I never got great weapons, and before you knew it we were three of the top 13. They ran past houses unscathed , yet when I followed 20 seconds later someone in them sniped me from behind . The wall was closing fast so whoever was on top of that house likely died outside the wall.
Then my two dudes just came down around from the far side (of airplane drops) of the circle and waited in one of two houses in the circle, all the action at the other one down the hill and where all the dumb droppers came from, after many wiped each other out, my dudes had a little hut shack inside the last circle meaning the enemy remaining had to run to them, exposed with no cover, and they got him good.
It was a totally pitiful showdown on my end. The guy came around the further rock and I swung out from where I was only to screw up and unload into the rock I was hiding behind and that let him just empty a UMP into me.
I have to also mention another experience right at the start of a game where I and another player landed feet from each other at the edge of that city surrounded by wheat fields. Of course we broke into a fist fight but quick into the this guy starts running away and obviously I can't let him go or he'd just turn around and come at me. So I chase after him and because there's no way to outpace someone I couldn't catch up to him. We're running through the wheat fields right in the open just asking to be shot by some rando. This goes on for like three minutes until he finally messes up and I get in range to beat a man to death between the stalks and fall to the ground beside his corpse as even right there in the open I needed to get a breather after that crap.
It was my 6th game ever. I bought the game this past Sunday and about 2 hours later, I did it. I nearly returned it to steam (joking). Since then I've gotten a hand full of top 10 finishes but didn't take pics, I know...pics or it didn't happen, but since I already got the chicken dinner, snapping a pic of 3rd didn't seem worth it.
Some Benny Hill shit to get my first chicken dinner yesterday in duos the first time I partnered with a coworker.
What I thought happened: As I'm priming a grenade, another hits the shed window, so I dip left. Know there's someone still in shed so I start priming another then see the dude come out and drop my grenade at my feet. Run away from it expecting the guy on the right who also threw a grenade, find no one, keep running into the shed expecting the guy on the left to have gone in there. Blind fire and nobodies there. Run outside and BAM
Just watched the slow-mo and saw the grenade came OUT of the shed, so nobody was actually to my right when I ran up on that shed. I was wondering why he wouldn't have just shot me that whole time.
Just picked this game up today. First two matches I got killed right away, on my third match though....
...I think I'm getting the hang of this, despite the fact my hands are still shaking.
After 17 hours and several top 10s I got to taste the chicken dinner.
This run didn't start especially well. I was distracted and got thrown out of the plane in the northeastern part of the map next to a huge hangar where i found nothing but a shotgun. I started running towards better looting grounds expecting to be shot at any second. That happened, but I managed to kill the assailant and took their assault rifle. I kept feeling I'll die any second but managed to kill 3 more guys that got the drop on me. After getting some halfway decent gear(backpack, lvl 1 vest, lvl 2 helmet, UMP9 as a secondary and some grenades) I rode a motorcycle to a small house that ended up being almost at the center of the circle. Had to exit the house with 2 others remaining. I slowly crawled up the hill next to the house and managed to finish off one of the remaining players. Then I spotted the last one in cover next to a tree and crawled until I was in range to toss a grenade next to the tree and started shooting when the duder bolted. He got some shots off, but I managed to kill them first with very little health left.
Man, that was exhilarating. I haven't been that excited about a video game in a while. Really thought I was going to have a heart attack during the last minutes of that run.
Finally did it. I flew in to some houses I had to myself, was able to get in a boat then hide under on of the main bridges, the circle moved to the bottom side of the other side of the map. I drove my boat over there, killed someone by running them over with the boat, hid on rock for several minutes until it made me swim to shore. One guy then got a jump on me but thankful swimming under water saved me and I got to place to shoot him.
Then in the least dramatic ended I waited on a rock for two more cycles until the last guy died. Boats are underrated
